1. Computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging and positron emission tomography in non-Hodgkin's lymphoma
Abstract : Certain aspects of the use of computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and positron emission tomography (PET) were evaluated in patients with non-Hodgkin'slymphoma (NHL) with the aim of improving the management of these patients.Subjective evaluation of the tumor pattern on CT images, and quantification of tracer uptake using 11C methionine (11C Met) and [18F] fluorodeoxyglucose (18FDG) PET in patients with NHL, were performed to determine their relations to malignancy grade. 2. Hepatitis C virus infection : a nationwide study of associated morbidity and mortality
Abstract : The hepatitis C virus (HCV) was characterised in 1989. HCV was transmitted through transfusion of blood/blood products, but injection drug use is now the most common route of transmission. READ MORE

3. Tumor-targeted superantigens for experimental immunotherapy of human leukemia/lymphoma
Abstract : Bacterial superantigens (SAgs) have the property of stimulating high proportions of T cells expressing certain TCR Vβ sequences. The SAg first binds with high affinity to HLA class II molecules on the target cell and then stimulates the T cell to produce cytokines and to become cytotoxic. READ MORE

4. Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma : a search for causes
Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to investigate some factors of possible importance for the development of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL), namely ultraviolet (UV) light, maternal and perinatal characteristics, blood transfusions, and smoking. To test the UV light hypothesis, a cohort study of secondary occurrence of skin cancer (malignant melanoma and squamous cell skin cancer) following NHL, and of NHL following skin cancer, was executed. 5. Hematolymphoproliferative malignancies : the impact of lifestyle, organ transplantation and genetic susceptibility
Abstract : During the past decades Non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) has demonstrated an immense increase in incidence globally, among almost all age and race groups as well as in both genders. In the search for causes, none of the known risk factors can alone or together entirely explain this trend. READ MORE
