  1. 1. Nitrate stable isotopes and major ions in snow and ice from Svalbard

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Carmen Paulina Vega Riquelme; Uppsala universitet.; [2014]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; nitrate stable isotopes; nitrate; NOx proxies; ice cores; percolation; ion relocation; Svalbard; stabila isotoper av nitrat; nitrat; indikator för kväveoxider; iskärnor; perkolation; joniska omlokalisering; Svalbard; Earth Science with specialization in Physical Geography; Geovetenskap med inriktning mot naturgeografi;

    Abstract : Increasing atmospheric reactive nitrogen (Nr), as consequence of human activities, has generated accumulation of nitrate (NO3-) in Arctic regions. The Arctic has fragile nitrogen limited ecosystems that can be altered by increases of dry or wet deposition of Nr. READ MORE

  2. 2. Biogeochemical Processes in Denitrifying Woodchip Bioreactors and their Application in the Mining Industry

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Albin Nordström; Uppsala universitet.; [2019]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; water treatment; mine drainage; nitrate; nitrous oxide; DNRA; fermentation; syntrophy; temperature; kväverening; gruvvatten; nitrat; lustgas; DNRA; fermentation; syntrofi; temperatur; Hydrology; Hydrologi;

    Abstract : This thesis evaluates passive denitrifying woodchip bioreactors (DWBs) for the removal of nitrate (NO3-) in neutral pH mine drainage, where water is passed through a carbon-rich porous matrix (e.g. woodchips) for the reduction of NO3- to nitrogen gas. READ MORE

  3. 3. Nitrogen transformations in wetlands: Effects of water flow patterns

    University dissertation from Limnology, Department of Ecology, Lund University

    Author : Torbjörn Davidsson; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [1997]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Hydrobiology; hydrology; infiltration; subsurface flow; surface flow; wetland; nitrogen; Denitrification; mineralization; nitrification; marine biology; aquatic ecology; limnology; Marinbiologi; limnologi; akvatisk ekologi;

    Abstract : In this thesis, I have studied nitrogen turnover processes in watermeadows. A watermeadow is a wetland where water infiltrates through the soil of a grassland field. READ MORE

  4. 4. The plant respiratory chain: Redox responses and catalytic definition of alternative pathways

    University dissertation from Lund University Department of Cell and Organism Biology Sölvegatan 35B SE-223 62 Lund

    Author : Daniela Geisler; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2007]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; enzymology; Proteins; Kärlväxters fysiologi; Physiology of vascular plants; Växtekologi; Plant ecology; Växtbiokemi; Plant biochemistry; respiratory chain; plant mitochondria; nitrogen; NADPH dehydrogenase; NADH dehydrogenase; alternative oxidase; calcium; Proteiner; enzymologi; Bioenergetics; Bioenergetik; Lipids; steroids; membranes; Lipider; steroider; mebran;

    Abstract : The respiratory chain of plants contains both proton-pumping enzymes that conserve energy and non-proton-pumping alternative enzymes that bypass the sites of energy conservation. In addition to the proton-pumping complex I, plant mitochondria contain alternative type II NAD(P)H dehydrogenases, which allow oxidation of NADH and NADPH from the matrix and the cytosol. READ MORE

  5. 5. Nutrient and Organic Matter Dynamics in Beech Forest Floors, in Relation to the Presence of Ground Flora

    University dissertation from Department of Ecology, Lund University
