  2. 2. Structural Plasticity and Function in Cytochrome cd1 Nitrite Reductase

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Tove Sjögren; Uppsala universitet.; [2001]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; cytochrome cd1; nitrite reductase; oxidase; redox protein; electron transfer; proton transfer; X-ray crystallography; Biokemi; NATURAL SCIENCES Chemistry Biochemistry; NATURVETENSKAP Kemi Biokemi; biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Abstract : Cytochrome cd1 nitrite reductase is a bifunctional enzyme, which catalyses the one-electron reduction of nitrite to nitric oxide, and the four-electron reduction of oxygen to water. The latter is a cytochrome oxidase reaction. Both reactions occur on the d1 haem iron of the enzyme. READ MORE

  3. 3. Involvement of Heparan Sulphate Biosynthesis and Turnover in Cell Proliferation. A Novel Role for Nitric Oxide in Recycling of Heparan Sulphate Proteoglycans

    University dissertation from BMC Biomedical Centre, Lund University

    Author : Katrin Mani; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2001]

    Abstract : Popular Abstract in Swedish Proteoglykaner (PG), framför allt sådana som bär glykosaminoglykan-sidokedjor av heparansulfat (HS) typ, utgör multifunktionella receptorer på cellytan och i pericellulär matrix hos alla adherenta celler i högre organismer. HS-proteoglykaner är inblandade i många olika cellprocesser, bl.a. READ MORE

  4. 4. Pulmonary Hypertension and the Nitric Oxide System

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Dan Henrohn; Uppsala universitet.; [2018]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pulmonary hypertension; nitric oxide; ADMA; arginine; nitrate; nitrite; vardenafil; beetroot juice; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Abstract : Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a pathophysiological state associated with several medical conditions, leading to progressive rise in pulmonary vascular resistance (PVR) and right ventricular failure. The clinical PH classification encompasses five main World Health Organization (WHO) groups; pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), PH due to left heart disease, PH due to lung diseases and/or hypoxia, chronic thromboembolic PH, and PH with unclear multifactorial mechanisms. 5. 5. Denitrification as an adaptive trait in soil and groundwater bacteria

    University dissertation from Department of Ecology, Lund University

    Author : Christer Bergwall; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [1997]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; microcosm; forest soil; aquifer; groundwater; reductase; nitrous oxide; nitric oxide; nitrite; nitrate; selection; adaptation; bacteria; nitrification; Denitrification; dissimilatory nitrate reduction to ammonium; fertiliser; 15NO3-; 15NH4 ; Ecology; Ekologi;

    Abstract : The focus of the thesis is on selection and adaptation processes in bacteria with emphasis on denitrifying bacteria in groundwater. Other nitrogen transformation processes such as dissimilatory nitrate reduction to ammonium (nitrate ammonification) and nitrification of forest soil bacteria are briefly discussed. READ MORE
