11. Body Protein and its Change in Patients During Anti-Tumor Treatment
Abstract : The purpose of this study was to investigate how total body protein and its fraction of body weight (body protein fraction) change in cancer patients during different anti-tumor treatments, and to see if these changes have any clinical significance in the form of prognostic value or correlation with disease course and tumor response. In 84 patients, 28 with lung cancer, 24 with gastrointestinal tumors, 30 with breast cancer, 1 with non-Hodgkin lymphoma and 1 with kidney cancer, the total amount of body nitrogen was measured using an in vivo prompt gamma neutron activation technique. 12. Phosphorus removal in reactive filter materials : factors affecting the sorption capacity
Abstract : Phosphorus is an essential component in all living organisms; it is one of the components of the DNA and the key element in the energy supplying molecule adenosine triphosphate (ATP). Throughout the history, humans have been recycling phosphorus to agriculture; thereby increasing the yield, examples of this includes the burning of plants and the use of manure. READ MORE

13. Fish bile in environmental analysis
Abstract : This work explores the usefulness of fish bile analysis in combination with biomarkers for identifying and evaluating new environmental contaminants in the aquatic environment. It illustrates how bile analysis can be used together with biomarkers to assess the causes of estrogenic effects, to identify chemicals in the aquatic environment that are taken up by fish, and to monitor environmental exposure. 15. Managing Eutrophic Waters in Artificial Recharge Plants : Cyanotoxin risk in Swedish freshwaters
Abstract : In the last decades, the frequency and intensity of cyanobacterial blooms have been of increasing concern. They have become a direct threat to the drinking water supply by clogging filters, bringing odour and unpleasant taste to the treated water and worst of all, causing elevated cyanotoxins, which can be difficult to remove, yet lead to severe health issues.
