  1. 1. Noise emissions from sustainable transport : A multi-scale modeling approach

    Author : Johan Nygren; Susann Boij; Romain Rumpler; Ciarán J. O'Reilly; Eoin King; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Traffic simulation; sustainable transport; environmental noise; vehicle acoustics; energy efficiency; Trafiksimulering; hållbar transport; samhällsbuller; fordonsakustik; energieffektivitet; Farkostteknik; Vehicle and Maritime Engineering;

    Abstract : Noise emissions from transportation remain one of the greatest environmental issues of modern day. Inhabitants in urban environments are especially exposed, with almost 80 million people in the European Union exposed to noise levels exceeding the recommended limits set by the World Health Organization (WHO). 2. 2. Development of methods for evaluation and optimization of chest tomosynthesis

    Author : Angelica Svalkvist; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : Chest tomosynthesis; Evaluation; Optimization; Simulation; Image Quality; Dosimetry; Dose reduction; Nodule simulation; Validation;

    Abstract : Tomosynthesis is a low-dose technique that has attracted increasing interest from the medical imaging community during the past decade. Tomosynthesis refers to the technique of acquiring a number of projection radiographs using extremely low exposure over a limited angular range, and using these radiographs to reconstruct slices of the imaged object. 3. 3. Tyre-road Interaction: a holistic approach to noise and rolling resistance

    Author : Tiago Vieira; Sigurdur Erlingsson; Ulf Sandberg; Anders Genell; Hans Jonasson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; pavement; surface; texture; noise; rolling resistance; tyre; Vägbeläggning; vägyta; textur; buller; rullmotstånd; däck; Byggvetenskap; Civil and Architectural Engineering;

    Abstract : Energy dissipation, fuel consumption, real-estate property prices and health issues are some of the aspects related to the tyre/pavement interaction and its functional properties of rolling resistance and noise. The first two aspects are affected by the tyre/road interaction as energy is dissipated mostly by hysteretic losses as the tyre is subjected to dynamic deformations when contacting the pavement surface. 4. 4. Low-frequency noise characterization, evaluation and modeling of advanced Si- and SiGe-based CMOS transistors

    Author : Martin von Haartman; Mikael Östling; Cor Claeys; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MOSFET; SOI; SiGe; strain; high-k; metal gate; 1 f noise; low-frequency noise; mobility fluctuations; phonons; number fluctuations; traps; buried channel; mobility; substrate bias; Electronics; Elektronik;

    Abstract : A wide variety of novel complementary-metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) devices that are strong contenders for future high-speed and low-noise RF circuits have been evaluated by means of static electrical measurements and low-frequency noise characterizations in this thesis. These novel field-effect transistors (FETs) include (i) compressively strained SiGe channel pMOSFETs, (ii) tensile strained Si nMOSFETs, (iii) MOSFETs with high-k gate dielectrics, (iv) metal gate and (v) silicon-on-insulator (SOI) devices. 5. 5. Active Noise Control in Aircraft : Algorithms and Applications

    Author : Sven Johansson; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; active noise control; feedforward control; filtere-x lms algorithm; complex lms; multichannel system; multiple reference; aircraft; headset;

    Abstract : The thesis consists of five papers which are divided into three main parts. Parts A and B deal with active noise control in a propeller aircraft application, whereas Part C deals with active noise control in a helicopter application. READ MORE
