    Abstract : This thesis presents HELIOS, an in-house laboratory for time-resolved pump-probe spectroscopy with extreme-ultraviolet (XUV) probe radiation. A wide span of pump wavelengths can be generated using commercial laser equipment while XUV probe radiation is generated via a high harmonic generation process in a noble gas delivering probe photons with energies between 20 eV and 72 eV. 2. 2. Noise Aspects of some Si-based One Port Devices and Carbon Nanotubes

    Author : Hassan Ouacha; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; etching; Schottky contacts; noise; fluctuations; generation; mobility; noise spectroscopy; recombination; p-n diodes; carbon nanotubes; thermal reaction; junction; defects; co-sputtering; irradiation; interface states; low frequency noise;

    Abstract : The p-n junctions and Schottky diodes based on Si1-xGex and SiC are of great importance in modern electronic applications, such as microwave detectors and mixers. Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have appeared recently as an attractive new class of materials with a reduced dimensionality, and proposed as building blocks for nanoelectronic technology. READ MORE

  3. 3. Continuous-filtering Vernier spectroscopy

    Author : Chuang Lu; Aleksandra Foltynowicz; Ove Axner; Wei Ren; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; spectroscopy; spectrometer; laser; optical frequency comb; optical cavity; NIR; MIR; flame; robust; time resolution; spectrum; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : Continuous-filtering Vernier spectroscopy (CF-VS) is a laser-based detection technique that combines the broad spectral coverage of an optical frequency comb (OFC) with the enhanced interaction length provided by an optical cavity. The resonances of the cavity filter the OFC to a small group of comb modes that probe the transitions of the species present in the cavity. READ MORE

  4. 4. High Resolution Transmission Spectroscopy of Exoplanets

    Author : Ansgar Wehrhahn; Nikolai Piskunov; Ulrike Heiter; Jason Wright; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; astronomy; spectroscopy; Astronomy; Astronomi;

    Abstract : A large number of exoplanets has been observed in the last three decades, but still for most of them we know comparatively little about the atmospheres of these distant planets. This is of particular interest as there exist types of planets that don't have an analogy in our own solar system, like hot Jupiters or super Earths. READ MORE

  5. 5. Fourier transform and Vernier spectroscopy using optical frequency combs

    Author : Amir Khodabakhsh; Aleksandra Foltynowicz; Ove Axner; Frans Harren; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; optical frequency comb spectroscopy; molecular absorption; resonant cavity; Fourier transform spectroscopy; Vernier spectroscopy; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : Optical frequency comb spectroscopy (OFCS) combines two previously exclusive features, i.e., wide optical bandwidth and high spectral resolution, enabling precise measurements of entire molecular bands and simultaneous monitoring of multiple gas species in a short measurement time.
