  2. 2. Hydraulic conductivity relations in soil and fractured rock : fluid component and phase interaction effects

    Author : Jerker Jarsjö; KTH; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The hydraulic conductivity of soil and fractured rockdetermines the rate at which fluids and dissolved chemicals flowthrough the subsurface, for given conditions at the boundary.Hence, the estimation of relevant parameters for quantificationof hydraulic conductivity relations constitutes a critical basisfor accurate model predictions. 3. 3. Multiphase Contamination in Rock Fractures : Fluid Displacement and Interphase Mass Transfer

    Author : Zhibing Yang; Auli Niemi; Fritjof Fagerlund; Tissa Illangasekare; Insa Neuweiler; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; multiphase flow; dissolution; mass transfer; invasion percolation; immiscible displacement; fractured media; groundwater contamination; non-aqueous phase liquid; curvature; Hydrology; Hydrologi;

    Abstract : Multiphase flow and transport in fractured rock is of importance to many practical and engineering applications. In the field of groundwater hydrology an issue of significant environmental concern is the release of dense non-aqueous phase liquids (DNAPLs) which can cause long-term groundwater contamination in fractured aquifers. 4. 4. Extraction of Metal Values : Thermodynamics of Electrolyte Solutions and Molten Salts Extraction Process

    Author : Xinlei Ge; Seshadri Seetharaman; Katsunori Yamaguchi; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electrolyte solutions; activity coefficient; osmotic coefficient; freezing point depression; boiling point elevation; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : Over the past centuries, a number of process routes for extraction of metal values from an ore or other resources have been developed. These can generally be classifiedinto pyrometallurgical, hydrometallurgical or electrometallurgical routes. READ MORE

  5. 5. Longterm performance of polyolefins in different environments including chlorinated water: antioxidant consumption and migration and polymer degradation

    Author : Marie Lundbäck; Ulf Gedde; Thomas Hjertberg; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Chemical engineering; polyethylene; polybutylene; HDPE; LLDPE; phenolic antioxidants; oxidation induction time OIT ; migration; chlorinated water; pressure testing; lifetime; chemical consumption.; Kemiteknik; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : The long-term performance of stabilized polyolefins in different environments was studied with focus on antioxidant consumption and migration. Plaques of linear polyethylene (LPE) and branched polyethylene (BPE) were stabilized with Santonox® R (4,4'-Thiobis(6-tert-butyl-3-methylphenol)), Irganox® 1081 (2,2’-Thiobis(4-methyl-6-tertbutylphenol)), or Lowinox® 22M46 (2,2’-Methylenebis(6-tert-butyl-4-methylphenol)).
