21. Deep Learning Methods for Classification of Glioma and its Molecular Subtypes
Abstract : Diagnosis and timely treatment play an important role in preventing brain tumor growth. Clinicians are unable to reliably predict LGG molecular subtypes from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) without taking biopsy. Accurate diagnosis prior to surgery would be important. READ MORE

22. Non-linear Optical Microscopy and Spectroscopy for Biomedical Studies
Abstract : This thesis is based on the application of non-linear optical microscopy and spectroscopy techniques within biomedical research. Non-linear optical microscopy gives the possibility of exciting fluorophores using near infrared light. READ MORE

23. Photodynamic therapy and laser-based diagnostic studies of malignant tumours
Abstract : Two non-thermal regimens of light interaction with biological tissue, that are in a natural way connected, are discussed in the present thesis. These are photodynamic therapy (PDT) for the treatment of malignant tumours and laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) for tissue characterization. READ MORE

24. Studies on molecular and immune signatures for detection of pancreatic cancer and COVID-19
Abstract : Background and objectives: Etiological factors and accurate diagnostic biomarkers have remained elusive to pancreatic cancer, a disease with > 90% five-years mortality rate. The recent understanding of microbiome interaction with host organs has opened new research avenues on the potential role of microbiota in the tumor microenvironment. READ MORE

25. Optical Analysis of biological media - continuous wave diffuse spectroscopy
Abstract : The main topic of this thesis is real-time quantification of relevant chromophores and light scattering elements in biological media. The presented methods and instrumentation are based on continuous wave (steady-state) optical measurements of (a) spatially-resolved diffuse reflectance from bulk media and (b) combined spatially-resolved and goniometric measurements of re-emitted light from thin samples.
