1. Non-Linear Vibration and Dynamic Fracture Mechanics of Bridge Cables
Abstract : In the present work, the non-linear vibrations and the corresponding dynamic fracture mechanics of cables of cable-stayed bridges are studied. The cables are among the most critical components in cable-stayed bridges and there are different damage sources such as corrosion, vibration, fatigue and fretting fatigue that can significantly affect them, thereby reducing the cable’s service life and even producing their failure. 2. Dynamic Train-Track Interaction: Linear and Non-Linear Track Models with Property Scatter
Abstract : A numerical method was developed to investigate the vertical dynamic behaviour of a railway track subjected to the loading of a moving train. The numerical simulations are carried out in the time-domain with what is known as a moving mass model. READ MORE

3. Quantum electronic transport in low-dimensional semiconductors
Abstract : Electronic transport is studied at low temperatures in two-dimensional electron gases (2DEGs) and in mesoscopic semiconductor microstructures. The method of microwave-detection of the Shubnikov-de Haas effect for the contact-free characterisation of transport properties of 2DEGs is explored using both magnetic-field modulation and light-induced carrier modulation. 4. Non-linear dynamics of Alfvén eigenmodes excited by fast ions in tokamaks
Abstract : The tokamak is so far the most promising magnetic configuration for achieving a net production of fusion energy. The D-T fusion reactions result in 3.5 MeV alpha-particles, which may destabilize Alfvén eigenmodes through wave-particle interaction. READ MORE

5. Acoustical experiments on the non-linear and non-equilibrium behavior of rocks
Abstract : The study of dynamic behavior of non-perfect materials, such as rocks, is a rich topic for developing sensitive material evaluation and damage detection techniques. It has extensive applications in a variety of fields such as Physics, Geology, and Aerospace, Mechanical, Civil, Petroleum, and Material Engineering. READ MORE
