6. Non-Local Thermodynamic Equilibrium Spectral Modelling of Kilonovae
Abstract : The astrophysical origin of rapid neutron capture (r-process) elements has long remained a puzzle and been the object of scientific debate. Neutron star (NS) mergers have historically been suggested as an ideal site for the creation of these elements, and were propelled into focus following the detection of the first binary neutron star (BNS) merger in 2017. 7. Two Problems in non-linear PDE’s with Phase Transitions
Abstract : This thesis is in the field of non-linear partial differential equations (PDE), focusing on problems which show some type of phase-transition. A single phase Hele-Shaw flow models a Newtoninan fluid which is being injected in the space between two narrowly separated parallel planes. READ MORE

8. Modeling of structural integrity of aged low alloy steels using non-local mechanics
Abstract : Ageing of low alloy steels affects the structural integrity assessment as it most commonly causes embrittlement and a hardening of the material. This is due to theevolution of the microstructure during operation in the specific application. READ MORE

9. On Numerical Methods for the Diffusion Equation Subject to Non-Local Boundary Conditions
Abstract : In the first paper three different finite difference methods for solving the heat equation in one space dimension with boundary conditions containing integrals over the interior of the interval are considered. The schemes are based on the forward Euler, the backward Euler and the Crank-Nicolson methods. Error estimates are derived in maximum norm. READ MORE

10. The allure of the exotic : The social use of non-local raw materials during the Stone Age in Sweden
Abstract : By use of ethnoarchaeological method this thesis attempts to investigate the social roles of non-local raw materials. Personal ornaments are studied in a world-wide range of ethnographic contexts, attention being focused on the origin of raw materials used to make these objects and the social use they assume in the 64 different societies analysed.
