  1. 1. Core Level Spectroscopy of Water and Ice

    Author : Dennis Nordlund; Anders Nilsson; Martin Wolf; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; x-ray adsorption spectroscopy; photoemission spectroscopy; x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy; platinum; x-ray emission spectroscopy; density functional theory; hydrogen-bonded; H-bond; water; ice; electronic structure; excited state dynamics; proton dynamics; water adsorption; liquid water; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : A core level spectroscopy study of ice and water is presented in this thesis. Combining a number of experiments and spectrum calculations based on density functional theory, changes in the local valence electronic structure are shown to be sensitive to the local H-bonding configurations. 2. 2. Simulation of Core-Level Spectra of H-bonded Systems

    Author : Iurii Zhovtobriukh; Lars G.M. Pettersson; Anders Nilsson; Marcus Lundberg; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; water; x-ray absorption; non-resonant x-ray emission; damped linear response theory; time-dependent density functional theory; semi-classical approximation to Kramers-Heisenberg formula; Reverse Monte-Carlo; kemisk fysik; Chemical Physics;

    Abstract : The thesis consists of three related projects where attempts have been made to simulate X-Ray Absorption (XAS) spectra of water and hexagonal ice, static non-resonant X-ray Emission (XES) spectrum of water and to apply the semi-classical approximation to Kramers-Heisenberg formula (SCKH) formalism to calculate the non-resonant XES spectrum of water and methanol. The first project is devoted to an investigation of the performance of damped response theory in combination with the DFT electronic structure method (CPP-DFT) in XAS spectrum simulations of liquid water. 4. 4. X-ray spectroscopies through damped linear response theory

    Author : Thomas Fransson; Patrick Norman; Christoph Jacob; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : In order to reach a fundamental understanding of interactions between electromagnetic radiation and molecular materials, experimental measurements need to be supplemented with theoretical models and simulations. With the use of this combination, it is possible to characterize materials in terms of, e.g. READ MORE

  5. 5. Resonant Soft X-ray Spectroscopic Studies of C60 and Related Materials

    Author : Tanel Käämbre; Arne Rosén; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; Fysik; Physics; Fysik; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : This thesis addresses the electronic structure of molecular and correlated solids using resonant inelastic soft X-ray scattering (RIXS), non-resonant X-ray emission, photoemissionand X-ray absorption spectroscopies. The use of monochromatised synchrotron radiation and improved energy resolution for X-ray emission have made it possible to elucidate the normal state transport properties and to get further insight into the electron-vibration coupling in fullerenes and the related compounds.
