  1. 1. Radiolabeled acetate PET in oncology imaging : studies on head and neck cancer, prostate cancer and normal distribution

    Author : Aijun Sun; Jens Sörensen; Silvia Johansson; Mikael Karlsson; Katrine Åhlström Riklund; Ingela Turesson; Heikki Minn; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; 11C-acetate; 18F-fluoroacetate; PET; head and neck cancer; staging; delineating tumor volume; clearance rate; perfusion; RT; treatment outcome; benign and malignant lymph node; prostate cancer; normal distribution; Oncology; Onkologi; onkologi; Oncology;

    Abstract : The use of positron emission tomography (PET) for imaging in oncology has grown rapidly in recent years. 2-[18F]-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) is the most common tracer of PET, although drawbacks exist. READ MORE

  2. 2. Small-Scale Absorbed Dose Modelling in Selective Internal Radiation Therapy : Microsphere Distribution in Normal Liver Tissue

    Author : Jonas Högberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; clusters; dosimetry; heterogeneity; liver; microspheres; radioembolisation; simulations; SIRT; surgery; yttrium-90;

    Abstract : Radioembolisation (RE), with yttrium-90 (90Y) labelled microspheres, is an increasingly common treatment method for unresectable liver tumours. The tolerable mean absorbed dose for normal liver (NL) tissue is higher in RE than in External Beam Radiation Therapy (EBRT); absorbed dose heterogeneity is thought to be one important reason, together with a low absorbed dose rate, but the knowledge of microsphere distributions is limited.     Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Subset selection; likelihood ratio; hypothesis testing; order restrictions; normal distribution; uniform distribution; complete ranking; P* -condition; loss function;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with random-size subset selection and ranking procedures• • • )|(derived through likelihood ratios, mainly in terms of the P -approach.Let IT , . .. READ MORE

  4. 4. On the asymptotic spectral distribution of random matrices : closed form solutions using free independence

    Author : Jolanta Maria Pielaszkiewicz; Dietrich von Rosen; Martin Singull; Maciej A. Nowak; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Spectral distribution; R-transform; Stieltjes transform; Free probability; Freeness; Asymptotic freeness;

    Abstract : The spectral distribution function of random matrices is an information-carrying object widely studied within Random matrix theory. In this thesis we combine the results of the theory together with the idea of free independence introduced by Voiculescu (1985). READ MORE

  5. 5. Neutrophil chemotaxis. Analyses of neutrophil chemotaxis i a new fluid gradient chamber

    Author : Reza Ebrahimzadeh Pirshahid; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cell movement; Chemotaxis; Leukocyte; Neutrophil; Human; Filter; Methods; N-Formylmethionine-Leucyl-Phenylalanine; Normal distribution; Partial differential equation;

    Abstract : The leukocytes have, as part of their function in immune system, the ability to leave the bloodstream, penetrate the vascular wall and migrate towards extravascular targets. This behaviour of the leukocytes has been extensively studied both in vivo and in vitro since the 19th century but the mechanisms underlying leukocyte migration are not yet fully understood. READ MORE
