  1. 1. A Numerical Investigation on VOD Nozzle Jets

    Author : Zhili Song; Pär Jönsson; Ola Widlund; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; VOD; nozzle; jet; vaccum; CFD;

    Abstract : The metallurgic process, Vacuum Oxygen Decarburization (VOD) process, is used for producing stainless steels with ultra-low carbon grades. In a VOD process, an oxygen lance is equipped with a De Laval nozzle which injects high speed oxygen gas. READ MORE

  2. 2. Investigation of jet pulsation effects on near-nozzle mixing and entrainment

    Author : Alexander Nygård; Laszlo Fuchs; Lisa Prahl Wittberg; Mireia Altimira; Xandra Margot; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Sprays; Nozzle; Mixing; Pulsation; Engineering Mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Abstract : Turbulent jet flows are very common in engineering applications. One example is that of fuel injection in internal combustion engines, which is closely related to the combustion process. Because of the widespread use, the resulting emissions of such engines have a significant impact on human health and the environment. READ MORE

  3. 3. Effect of swirling blade on flow pattern in nozzle for up-hill teeming

    Author : Line Hallgren; Pär Jönsson; Jonas Alexis; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; swirling flow; up-hill teeming; nozzle; casting; fluid flow; modelling; CFD; LDA.; Metallurgical process engineering; Metallurgisk processteknik;

    Abstract : The fluid flow in the mold during up-hill teeming is of great importance for the quality of the cast ingot and therefore the quality of the final steel products. At the early stage of the filling of an up-hill teeming mold, liquid steel enters, with high velocity, from the runner into the mold and the turbulence on the meniscus could lead to entrainment of mold flux. 4. 4. The Submerged Entry Nozzle : A Study of how to Reduce Decarburization and Clogging

    Author : Jennie Svensson; Pär Jönsson; Voicu Brabie; Johan Björkvall; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materials Science and Engineering; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Steel Forming and Surface Engineering;

    Abstract : During continuous casting the submerged entry nozzle (SEN) is one of the critical points. This since sequence casting is favourable, clogging of the SEN results in fever sequences or aborted castings. In this study the preheating of SEN has been evaluated at different steel plants. 5. 5. Modal Decomposition of Separated Nozzle Flow

    Author : Ragnar Larusson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Arnoldi; axisymmetric convergent-divergent nozzle; Mode Decomposision; Flow Separation; Resonance.; Dynamic Mode Decomposision; Computational Fluid Dynamics;

    Abstract : The applicability of two different eigenvalue algorithms coupled with an axisymmetric RANS solver to predict the eigenmodes of separated supersonic flow inside an axisymmetric convergent-divergent nozzle was investigated. These are the Arnoldi and the Dynamic Mode Decomposition (DMD) algorithms, respectively. READ MORE
