  3. 3. Narrating Nuclear Disaster : Literary Form and Affective Modes after Chernobyl and Fukushima

    Author : Hannah Klaubert; Ansgar Nünning; Claudia Egerer; Catrin Gersdorf; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Ecocriticism; nuclear disaster; Chernobyl; Fukushima; narrative; narratology; literature; Anthropocene; radioactivity; environmental humanities; energy humanities; nuclear humanities; English; engelska;

    Abstract : The major nuclear disasters of Chernobyl (1986) and Fukushima (2011) play an important role in the public perception of nuclear power, yet their social and material impacts remain scientifically debated and, thus, their meaning for the future of nuclear power production contested. Narrating Nuclear Disaster intervenes in these debates by asking what might be learned about nuclear disasters through an analysis of the formal and affective strategies employed in literary texts narrating their aftermath. 4. 4. Energy consumption transition : final household energy consumption in the case of Sweden 1920-2010

    Author : Mikael Levin; Lars-Fredrik Andersson; Ann-Kristin Bergquist; Thomas Pettersson; Bengt Kriström; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; economic history; households; energy transition; energy consumption; residential; electrical appliances; Carbon dioxide; emission; ekonomisk historia; Economic History;

    Abstract : This licentiate thesis examines households’ final energy consumption over the long run by measuring their final energy use and examining how structural, institutional and economic factors affected the demand for energy in the residential sector during the period 1920-2010, a period covering the transition from traditional to fossil to renewable energy carriers. I believe that wider understanding of the historical energy transition and energy consumption within the residential sector might help us gain important insights into the long-run development and the factors affecting energy consumption among the households. 5. 5. Investigation into sustainable energy systems in Nordic municipalities

    Author : Robert Fischer; Andrea Toffolo; Erik Elfgren; Danica Djuric Ilic; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Renewable energy sources; Nordic municipalities; municipal energy system; electrified transport; biofuels; multi-objective optimization; EnergyPLAN; Energiteknik; Energy Engineering;

    Abstract : Municipal energy systems in Nordic environments face multiple challenges: the cold climate, large-scale industries, a high share of electric heating and long distances drive energy consumption. While actions on the demand side minimize energy use, decarbonization efforts in mining, industries, the heating and the transport sector can increase the consumption of electricity and biofuels.
