  2. 12. Modeling of Electron Cooling : Theory, Data and Applications

    Author : Karin Rathsman; Tord Johansson; Pia Thörngren; Dieter Prasuhn; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Electron cooling; Beam dynamics; Vlasov technique; Nonlinear damping; Monte Carlo simulations; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Nuclear Physics; Kärnfysik;

    Abstract : The Vlasov technique is used to model the electron cooling force. Limitations of the applicability of the method is obtained by considering the perturbations of the electron plasma. READ MORE

    Abstract : Knowledge of dynamics in protein is very important in the description of protein function and molecular recognition. The thesis investigates protein dynamics on time-scales from milli- to sub-nanosecond, with focus on the latter, using NMR spin relaxation experiments on two proteins, the 138-residue carbohydrate recognition domain of galectin-3 (Gal3C) and the 56-residue B1 domain of bacterial protein G (PGB1). 4. 14. Molecular dynamics studied by NMR relaxation experiments. Characterization of functional dynamics in the FK506 binding protein FKBP12

    Author : Ulrika Brath; Biofysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; nuclear magnetic resonance; NMR; FK506; protein dynamics; chemical exchange; spin relaxation; FKBP12; FKBP; isotope labeling;

    Abstract : The presented thesis work is concerned with the study of molecular dynamics using liquid nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. Spin relaxation dispersion experiments in the rotating frame (R1ρ) are employed to provide a detailed, atomic-resolution view of protein dynamics. READ MORE

  5. 15. Functional studies of nuclear envelope-associated proteins in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

    Author : Ida Olsson; Ann Mutvei; Valérie Doye; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nucleus; nuclear envelope; nuclear pore complexes; vesicular traffic; arginine methylation; Rmt2; Cwh43; Myr1; Biochemistry; Biokemi; biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Abstract : Proteins of the nuclear envelope play important roles in a variety of cellular processes e.g. transport of proteins between the nucleus and cytoplasm, co-ordination of nuclear and cytoplasmic events, anchoring of chromatin to the nuclear periphery and regulation of transcription.
