1. Arene Iron Complexes in Organic Synthesis. New Routes to Benzophenones, Diaryl Selenides, Xanthones and Thioxanthones
Abstract : A multi-step route to unsymmetrically substituted benzophenones based on cationic hapto6-arene-hapto5-cyclopentadienyl iron complexes has been developed. The key features are nucleophilic aromatic substitution reactions performed on hapto6-2-chlorocarbomethoxybenzene-hapto5-cyclopentadienyl iron hexafluorophosphate with phenoxides, followed by intramolecular Friedel-Crafts ring-closure. 2. Perfluroaryl azides : Reactivities, Unique Reactions and their Applications in the Synthesis of Theranostic Agents
Abstract : The work centersaround perfluoroaryl azides (PFAAs), and theirability to undergo certain fast and robusttransformations. The chemistry was furtherappliedfor biomedical applications. The first section focuses on the azide-aldehyde-amine cycloaddition using PFAAs. READ MORE

3. Naphthoxylosides Investigations into glycosaminoglycan biosynthesis
Abstract : Glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) are members of a family of polysaccharide structures consisting mostly of repeating disaccharide units. Most GAGs are attached to specific serine residues in proteins to form proteoglycans (PGs). READ MORE

4. Theoretical Investigations of C–O Activation in Biomass
Abstract : This thesis focuses on using computational chemistry approaches to study how biobased molecules interact with both homo- and heterogeneous catalysts. The reaction mechanisms of such transformations have also been studied. READ MORE

5. Synthesis and evaluation of bicyclic 1,3-diols (BODOLs) as ligands for asymmetric catalysis
Abstract : Several ligands based upon 2-substituted bicyclic[2.2.2]octane-2,6-diols (BODOLs) were synthesized and evaluated in two catalytic reactions: I) the Ti(IV)-mediated catecholborane asymmetric reduction of prochiral ketones and II) as catalysts in the asymmetric addition of diethylzinc to aromatic aldehydes.
