1. Palladium-Catalyzed Nucleophilic Substitution of Alcohols : Mechanistic Studies and Synthetic Applications
Abstract : This thesis deals with the palladium-catalyzed nucleophilic substitution of π-activated alcohols in which the C–O bond of a non-manipulated hydroxyl group is cleaved. The thesis is divided in two chapters describing two different catalytic systems. READ MORE

2. Arene Iron Complexes in Organic Synthesis. New Routes to Benzophenones, Diaryl Selenides, Xanthones and Thioxanthones
Abstract : A multi-step route to unsymmetrically substituted benzophenones based on cationic hapto6-arene-hapto5-cyclopentadienyl iron complexes has been developed. The key features are nucleophilic aromatic substitution reactions performed on hapto6-2-chlorocarbomethoxybenzene-hapto5-cyclopentadienyl iron hexafluorophosphate with phenoxides, followed by intramolecular Friedel-Crafts ring-closure. 3. Quantum Chemical Studies of Aromatic Substitution Reactions
Abstract : In this thesis, density functional theory (DFT) is used to investigate the mechanisms and reactivities of electrophilic and nucleophilic aromatic substitution reactions (SEAr and SNAr respectively). For SEAr, the σ-complex intermediate is preceded by one (halogenation) or two (nitration) π-complex intermediates. READ MORE

4. Naphthoxylosides Investigations into glycosaminoglycan biosynthesis
Abstract : Glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) are members of a family of polysaccharide structures consisting mostly of repeating disaccharide units. Most GAGs are attached to specific serine residues in proteins to form proteoglycans (PGs). READ MORE

5. Perfluroaryl azides : Reactivities, Unique Reactions and their Applications in the Synthesis of Theranostic Agents
Abstract : The work centersaround perfluoroaryl azides (PFAAs), and theirability to undergo certain fast and robusttransformations. The chemistry was furtherappliedfor biomedical applications. The first section focuses on the azide-aldehyde-amine cycloaddition using PFAAs. READ MORE
