  1. 1. Licensing Games

    Author : Aineas Mallios; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; patents; trade secrets; licensing; imitation; litigation;

    Abstract : Patents are legal instruments that protect ideas, and the rise of a knowledge-based society was inevitably accompanied with their increased economic importance. As a result of this growth, patented technology became an indispensable element of firms, governments, and modern economies. READ MORE

  2. 2. Children’s early mathematics learning and development : Number game interventions and number line estimations

    Author : Jessica Elofsson; Ulf Träff; Joakim Samuelsson; Stefan Gustafson; Camilla Björklund; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; mathematics learning and development; number knowledge and skills; intervention; number games; number line estimation; representations of number; lärande och utveckling i matematik; numeriska kunskaper och färdigheter; intervention; numeriska spel; skattningar av tal på tallinjer; representationer av tal.;

    Abstract : Children’s early mathematics learning and development have become a topic of increasing interest over the past decade since early mathematical knowledge and skills have been shown to be a strong predictor of later mathematics performance. Understanding how children develop mathematical knowledge and skills and how they can be supported in their early learning could thus prove to be a vital component in promoting learning of more formal mathematics. 3. 3. Bargaining and Communication in Games

    Author : Ola Andersson; Nationalekonomiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Repeated Bertrand Games; Communication; Cooperation; Renegotiation; Experiments; Bargaining; Discount factors; Non-cooperative Game Theory;

    Abstract : Chapter 2 investigates an infinitely repeated Bertrand duopoly where firms with different discount factors bargain over which collusive price and market share to implement. The bargaining is modelled as a strategic game and the main results of the paper is that it shows existence of a unique subgame perfect equilibrium and that the least patient firm's equilibrium market share is not monotone in its own discount factor. 4. 4. Game-calibrated and user-tailored remote detection of emotions : A non-intrusive, multifactorial camera-based approach for detecting stress and boredom of players in games

    Author : Fernando Bevilacqua; Henrik Engström; Per Backlund; Vittorio Scarano; Högskolan i Skövde; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; human-computer interaction; computer vision; non-obtrusive; remote sensing; affective computing; games; rPPG; Interaction Lab ILAB ; Interaction Lab ILAB ;

    Abstract : Questionnaires and physiological measurements are the most common approach used to obtain data for emotion estimation in the field of human-computer interaction (HCI) and games research. Both approaches interfere with the natural behavior of users. READ MORE

  5. 5. Impartial Games and Recursive Functions

    Author : Urban Larsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Algorithmically undecidable; Beatty sequences; Blocking maneuver; Cellular automaton; Comply maneuver; Complementary sequences; Dictionary process; Dual game; Game complexity; Game convergence; Game reflexivity; Heap game; Impartial game; Invariant subtraction game; Move-size dynamic; Nim; P-equivalence; Rule 110; Splitting sequences; *-operator; Subtraction game; Take-away game; Turing complete; Wythoff Nim; Turing complete;

    Abstract : Interest in 2-player impartial games often concerns the famous theory of Sprague-Grundy. In this thesis we study other aspects, bridging some gaps between combinatorial number theory, computer science and combinatorial games. READ MORE
