21. Diagnostic Accuracy of Tuned Aperture Computed Tomography (TACT®)
Abstract : The diagnostic accuracy of Tuned Aperture Computed Tomography (TACT) was evaluated for a variety of diagnostic tasks. Drawbacks of 2D radiography, lack of accessibility and high cost associated with advanced imaging modalities prompted these studies. READ MORE

22. Regulation and function of mineralized tissue extra-cellular matrix proteins : studies of ADAMTS-1 and osteoadherin
Abstract : The extracellular matrix of tissues is governed and maintained by cells and a number of associated proteins. The extracellular matrix of the skeleton is highly specialized, in that it is mineralized and contains matrix-specific proteins with unique functions. READ MORE

23. Experimental studies on effects of orthodontic forces in generation of immune responses : possible roles for immunoregulating molecules in the control of alveolar bone remodeling
Abstract : The transformation of orthodontic forces to periodontal tissues involves several biological mechanisms, which ultimately result in bone remodelling. It has been suggested that the immune system plays a role in the regulation of bone remodelling through production of immune mediators by inflammatory cells that have migrated from dilated periodontal ligament capillaries after the application of orthodontic force. 24. Prevalence and Prognostic Impact of Periodontal Disease and Conventional Risk Factors in Patients with Stable Coronary Heart Disease
Abstract : The purpose of this thesis was to assess the prevalence and management of established cardiovascular (CV) risk factors and the prevalence and influence of self-reported markers (number of teeth and frequency of gum bleeding) of periodontal disease (PD), a less explored CV risk factor, in patients with stable chronic coronary heart disease (CHD).We studied patients from the global STabilization of Atherosclerotic plaque By Initiation of darapLadIb TherapY (STABILITY) trial (n=15,828), in which patients with stable chronic CHD were randomized to either darapladib or placebo. 25. Clinical aspects of restorative treatment in the primary dentition
Abstract : The failure rate of restorative treatment in primary teeth was studied in a cohort of children born in 1981 and related to caries diagnosis, prevalence and distribution on different tooth surfaces, and compared with a cohort of children born in 1971. Concurrently, the longevity of composite resin in modified Class 2 cavities in primary molars was followed up and the resistance of deciduous and permanent enamel to acid adjacent to composite resin and glass polyalkeonate cement (GPA) was tested in vitro.
