  1. 1. Functional study of Nucleoporins Nup88 and Nup214 during Drosophila Development

    Author : Nikos Xylourgidis; Christos Samakovlis; Valerie Doye; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mbo; Nup88; CAN; Nup214; NPC; CRM1; embargoed; NF-kB; REL; Dorsal; Dif; Drosophila; Developmental biology; Utvecklingsbiologi;

    Abstract : More than a million macromolecules per minute pass through the nuclear envelope of a eukaryotic cell. An important challenge is to understand how the NPC coordinate efficiently the bi-directional trafficking necessary for the basal cellular activities and the rapid translocation of regulatory proteins in response to signaling. READ MORE

  2. 2. Nucleoporins and Protein Transport in Drosophila

    Author : Peggy Roth; Christos Samakovlis; Volker Cordes; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NPC; Nucleoporin; Nup88; Nup214; CRM1; Dorsal; Drosophila; Developmental biology; Utvecklingsbiologi;

    Abstract : Many biological responses rely on the selective translocation of transcriptional regulators in and out of the nucleus through nuclear pore complexes (NPC). More than one million macromolecules per minute pass through the NPC and an important challenge is to understand the coordination of nucleocytoplasmic trafficking. READ MORE

  3. 3. Molecular Mechanisms of the DEK Protein in Leukemia

    Author : Carl Sandén; Avdelningen för hematologi och transfusionsmedicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; DEK; DEK-NUP214; fusion gene; acute myeloid leukemia; proliferation; mTOR; ChIP-seq;

    Abstract : The DEK gene is upregulated in a growing number of cancers and translocated to form the DEK-NUP214 fusion gene in a subset of acute myeloid leukemia. In this thesis, we studied the cellular and molecular functions of the DEK and DEK-NUP214 proteins. READ MORE

  4. 4. On the role of the fusion protein DEK-NUP214 in leukemogenesis

    Author : Malin Ageberg; Avdelningen för hematologi och transfusionsmedicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; mRNA translation; Medicin människa och djur ; fusion gene; Medicine human and vertebrates ; leukemia;

    Abstract : The t(6;9) translocation is found in a subset of patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and is associated with a poor prognosis. The translocation results in the formation of the DEK-NUP214 fusion protein containing almost the entire nuclear protein DEK and two thirds of the nucleoporin NUP214. READ MORE
