1. Gamow -Teller Beta Decay in Drip Line Nuclei
Abstract : Before radioactive ion beams became available, the Gamow-Teller (GT) giant resonance was studied using charge-exchange reactions such as (p,n) and (He,t). In beta-stable nuclei, which can be used as targets, the GT giant resonance lies above the ground state of the mother nucleus. READ MORE

2. Modelling transport of non-spherical particles in laminar flow
Abstract : A model has been developed that can be used to predict the transport of non-spherical particles in the nano- and micro scale range for different applications. This may be the flow in the lungs or flow taking place during composites manufacturing, but the model can be applied to many applications where the particle Stokes and Reynolds numbers are small. 3. Modelling Transport of Non-Spherical Particles in Small Channel Flow
Abstract : A model has been developed to predict the movement of oblate and prolate particles on amicro- and nano-scale in laminar channel flow, both for purposes of statistical aggregationand to study motion of single particles. For the purpose of this thesis the model has beenadapted to examine particle deposition patterns in the human lung and the filtration ofparticles during manufacturing of composites, but the possibilities of the model extendto all areas where the particle Stokes and Reynolds numbers are small. 4. Suspensions of finite-size rigid particles in laminar and turbulent flows
Abstract : Dispersed multiphase flows occur in many biological, engineering and geophysical applications. Understanding the behavior of suspensions is a difficult task. In the present work, we numerically study the behavior of suspensions of finite-size rigid particles in different flows. READ MORE

5. Numerical study of non-spherical/spherical particles in laminar and turbulent flows
Abstract : The presence of solid rigid particles alters the global transport and rheological properties of the mixture in complex (and often unpredictable) ways. In recent years a few studies have been devoted to investigating the behavior of dense suspensions in the turbulent/inertial regime with the majority of theses analyses limited to mono-disperse rigid neutrally-buoyant spheres.
