  1. 1. Observability and identifiability of nonlinear systems with applications in biology

    University dissertation from Göteborg : Chalmers University of Technology

    Author : Milena Anguelova; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2007]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Observability; identifiability; nonlinear systems; time delay; delay systems; state elimination; metabolism; conservation laws; signalling pathways.; signalling pathways.; time delay; state elimination; conservation laws; identifiability; metabolism; delay systems; nonlinear systems;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns the properties of observability andidentifiability of nonlinear systems. It consists of two parts, the first dealing with systems of ordinary differential equations and the second with delay-differential equations with discrete timedelays. READ MORE

  3. 3. Selected Topics in Inertial and Visual Sensor Fusion Calibration, Observability Analysis and Applications

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH Royal Institute of Technology

    Author : Ghazaleh Panahandeh; Magnus Jansson; Jorge Manuel Miranda Dias; [2014]

    Abstract : Recent improvements in the development of inertial and visual sensors allow building small, lightweight, and cheap motion capture systems, which are becoming a standard feature of smartphones and personal digital assistants. This dissertation describes developments of new motion sensing strategies using the inertial and inertial-visual sensors. READ MORE

  4. 4. Dialogue and Shared Knowledge How Verbal Interaction Renders Mental States Socially Observable

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Sociologiska institutionen

    Author : Wendelin Reich; Uppsala universitet.; [2003]
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Sociology; cognitive sociology; microsociology; social theory; social interaction; dialogue; shared knowledge; observability; inference; constraint; expectability; Grice; Sociologi; SOCIAL SCIENCES Social sciences Sociology; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP Socialvetenskap Sociologi;

    Abstract : This dissertation presents a new theoretical solution to the sociological problem of observability: the question of the extent to which and by what means individuals "observe" or infer mental states of other individuals, thereby sharing knowledge with them. The answer offered here states that the social situation of dialogue permits a speaker to use utterances to compel a hearer to generate specific and expectable assumptions about some of the speaker's intentions and beliefs. 5. 5. Tools for Control System Design Stratification of Matrix Pairs and Periodic Riccati Differential Equation Solvers

    University dissertation from Umeå : Print & Media, Umeå universitet

    Author : Stefan Johansson; Bo Kågström; Erik Elmroth; Paul Van Dooren; [2009]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; control system design; stratification; controllability; observability; matrix pair; canonical forms; linear quadratic regulator; periodic systems; periodic Riccati differential equation; TECHNOLOGY Information technology Computer science; TEKNIKVETENSKAP Informationsteknik Datavetenskap; Numerical Analysis; numerisk analys;

    Abstract : Modern control theory is today an interdisciplinary area of research. Just as much as this can be problematic, it also provides a rich research environment where practice and theory meet. This Thesis is conducted in the borderline between computing science (numerical analysis) and applied control theory. READ MORE
