  1. 1. Lighting Control Systems for Energy Saving and User Acceptance: State-of-the-art and future directions

    University dissertation from Lund University, Faculty of Engineering

    Author : Niko Gentile; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2015]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Indoor lighting; lighting control system; lighting control; energy saving; energy efficiency; user acceptance; human factor; occupancy strategies; absence sensor; presence sensor; lighting switch; manual switch; daylight harvesting system; daylight-linked system; photoelectric dimming; photosensor.;

    Abstract : Lighting accounts for one-fifth of global electricity use. In Sweden, energy demand for lighting corresponds to 20% of the total electricity use in office buildings. Lighting retrofit measures are considered to be among the most cost-efficient way to reduce energy use in buildings. READ MORE

  2. 2. Lighting Control Systems to Save Energy in the non-Residential Sector : State-of-the-art, Field Studies, and Simulations

    University dissertation from Division of Energy and Building Design

    Author : Niko Gentile; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2017-10-27]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Indoor lighting; lighting control system; lighting control; energy sav; energy eff; user acceptan; degree of acceptance; human factor; occupancy strategy; presence strategy; absence strategy; daylight harvesting; daylight-linked; daylight; photoelectric dimming; photosensor; manual switch; functional illumination; standby;

    Abstract : This thesis examines the energy-saving potential for lighting when using traditional indoor LCSs in non-residential buildings. In the study, an overarching theoretical framework is used that distinguishes between energy efficiency and energy saving, as well as between energy use for lighting and functional illumination. 3. 3. Experimental study of an intermittent ventilation system in high occupancy spaces

    University dissertation from Gävle : Gävle University Press

    Author : Alan Kabanshi; Högskolan i Gävle.; [2017]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Intermittent airflow; Indoor air quality; Perceived air quality; Thermal sensation; thermal comfort; Air movement acceptability; Convective cooling; Cooling effect.; Intermittent luftflöde; Luftstrålar; Upplevd luftkvalitet; Termisk komfort; Acceptans av luftrörelser; Konvektiv kylning; Kyleffekt.;

    Abstract : Spaces with high occupancy density like classrooms are challenging to ventilate and use a lot of energy to maintain comfort. Usually, a compromise is made between low energy use and good Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ), of which poor IEQ has consequences for occupants’ health, productivity and comfort. READ MORE

  4. 4. Experimental studies on novel pharmacological strategies in the treatment of schizophrenia

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Department of Physiology and Pharmacology

    Author : Amani Eltayb; Karolinska Institutet.; Karolinska Institutet.; [2006]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Schizophrenia; L-dopa; topiramate; 5-HT2C; citalopram; WAY 100635; CAR; catalepsy;

    Abstract : The modified dopamine (DA) hypothesis of schizophrenia suggests a hyperdopaminergic state in subcortical brain regions, which is believed to cause positive symptoms, while cortical regions may show a hypodopaminergic state which is believed to generate negative and cognitive symptoms. Positive symptoms are improved by typical antipsychotic drug (APD) treatment. READ MORE

  5. 5. Perceptions of Trust and National Perspectives in Multinational Crisis Management: An Examination of the European Union Military Strategic Level

    University dissertation from Department of Fire Safety Engineering and Systems Safety, Lund University

    Author : Olof Ekman; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2011]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; EU; OHQ; CSDP; staff; strategic; military; crisis management; trust; norms; roles; national perspectives;

    Abstract : This thesis is motivated by an increasing degree of unfamiliarity and prominence of national dimensions in multinational crisis management. The research rationale rests on the argument that trust is important but may erode when roles conflict, which in turn may result when stakeholder interests diverge. READ MORE
