  1. 1. Partial Discharge Signatures of Defects in Insulation Systems Consisting of Oil and Oil-impregnated Paper

    Author : Mohamad Ghaffarian Niasar; Hans Edin; Peter Werelius; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; partial discharge; transformer; oil; ageing; temperature; PD classification;

    Abstract : Partial discharge measurement is a common method for monitoring and diagnostics of power transformers, and can detect insulation malfunctions before they lead to failure. Different parameters extracted from the measured PD activity can be correlated to the PD source, and as a result it is possible to identify the PD source by analyzing the PD activity. READ MORE

  2. 2. Novel oil resistant cellulosic materials

    Author : Christian Aulin; Lars Wågberg; Derek Gray; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; oleophobic; MFC; cellulose; oil resistant; contact angle; XPS; SEM; Cellulose and paper engineering; Cellulosa- och pappersteknik;

    Abstract : The aim of this study has been to prepare and characterise oil resistant cellulosic materials, ranging from model surfaces to papers and aerogels. The cellulosic materials were made oil resistant by chemical and topographic modifications, based on surface energy, surface roughness and barrier approaches. READ MORE

  3. 3. Analysis and Applications of Minimum Quantity Lubrication (MQL)

    Author : Bulent Tasdelen; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; dry; compressed air; sliding; MQL; temperature; nozzle; oil amount; seizure; tool wear; tool-chip contact surface topography.; contact length;

    Abstract : One of the greatest obstacles to the implementation of MQL is “lack of knowledge” which also limits the expansion of its usage. The presented work aims to take a step toward a better understanding of the mechanisms that occur in MQL assisted machining. READ MORE

    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; techno-economic; CO2 emissions; carbon dioxide; renewable diesel; post-combustion; algae biofuels; process integration; GHG emissions; oil refining industry; carbon capture and storage CCS ;

    Abstract : The main objective of this thesis is to investigate two different concepts for CO2 mitigation, from a system perspective, in relation to the oil refining industry: CO2 capture and storage; and algae-based biofuels. For all these processes, process integration with an oil refinery is assumed. READ MORE
