  1. 1. Arctic Offshore Hydrocarbon Resource Development : Past, Present and Vision of the Future

    Author : Maria Morgunova; Vladimir Kutcherov; Rurik Holmberg; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Arctic; oil and natural gas; resource development; investment trends; offshore technology; production volume; projection; historical framework; Industriell ekonomi och organisation; Industrial Engineering and Management;

    Abstract : Energy issues have always been on the global economics and geopolitics agenda, even though energy sources have been changing over time.In recent years, the awareness of Arctic offshore oil and natural gas development has escalated, yielding economic opportunities and incurring risks. 2. 2. Petroleum Production and Exploration : Approaching the End of Cheap Oil with Bottom-Up Modeling

    Author : Kristofer Jakobsson; Kjell Aleklett; Roger Bezdek; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : The theme of this thesis is the depletion of petroleum (crude oil and natural gas). Are there reasons to be concerned about an ‘end of cheap oil’ in the near future? There is a lively debate regarding this issue. The debate is sometimes described as a clash of ‘concerned’ natural scientists and ‘unconcerned’ economists. READ MORE

  3. 3. Particle Emissions from Ships

    Author : Maria Zetterdahl; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LNG; marine fuel; fuel sulphur content; particle emission; sulphur emission control area; aromatics; SECA; heavy fuel oil; marine diesel oil; liquefied natural gas; ship emission;

    Abstract : Since 1st of January 2015 ships operating in sulphur emission control areas (SECAs) have to use marine fuels with a fuel sulphur content less than 0.1 %m/m. This regulation forces the ship owners to make a fuel shift and use low-sulphur marine fuel oils, use alternative fuels or use scrubbers on-board their ships. READ MORE

  4. 4. Entrained-Flow Gasification of Black Liquor and Pyrolysis Oil : Experimental and Equilibrium Modelling Studies of Catalytic Co-gasification

    Author : Yawer Jafri; Rikard Gebart; Martin Seemann; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Black liquor; pyrolysis oil; catalytic gasification; co-gasification; gasification; entrained-flow gasification; pilot-scale; Energy Engineering; Energiteknik;

    Abstract : The last couple of decades have seen entrained-flow gasification of black liquor (BL) undergo an incremental process of technical development as an alternative to combustion in a recovery boiler. The ability of the technology to combine chemical recovery with the production of clean syngas renders it a promising candidate for the transformation of chemical pulp mills into integrated forest biorefineries. 5. 5. Interaction Between Graphene Derivatives and Asphaltenes in Crude Oil and Crude Derivatives

    Author : Govindan Induchoodan; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Micelle Structures; Material enhancement; Enhanced Roads; Graphene; Asphaltene deposition; Structure-Function;

    Abstract : The chemistry of crude oil (SARA) and crude derivatives, and the percentage of asphaltene can vary significantly depending on external and internal factors such as the source and method of SARA extraction. If graphitic materials are introduced into a system such as SARA, it becomes an additional variable to a complex multi-phase colloid. READ MORE
