  1. 11. Host organelles and transporters in underground plant-pathogen interactions

    Author : Fredrik Dölfors; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : This thesis covers studies of three different soilborne plant pathogens, the two fungi, Rhizoctonia solani and Verticillium longisporum, and the protist Plasmodiophora brassicae, as well as their host responses. Based on genome sequence analysis of the pathogens and their plant hosts, different effectors and plant defence factors were predicted. READ MORE

  2. 12. Genomics and transcriptomics of plant beneficial Serratia spp

    Author : Saraswoti Neupane; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Plant growth stimulation and antagonism against phytopathogens by rhizobacteria are widely recognised phenomena, but the variation in the underlying causal mechanisms between and within different bacterial taxa is still poorly understood. Some bacteria of the genus Serratia are known to be associated with plant roots, and have potential as possible biocontrol agents in agriculture. READ MORE

  3. 13. Modification of flavonoid content and photosynthesis by ultraviolet-B radiation. Atrazine-tolerant and -sensitive ultivars of Brassica napus

    Author : Louise Olsson; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; recovery; quercetin; photosynthesis; photoinhibition; photoacoustics; leaf anatomy; kaempferol; flavonoid; D1 protein; fluorescence; cold stress; carbon dioxide; atrazine tolerance; Brassica napus; UV-B; Physiological biophysics; Växtfysiologi;

    Abstract : Levels of ultraviolet-B (UV-B, 280-320 nm) radiation reaching the Earth´s surface increase due to stratospheric ozone depletion. In this thesis the effect of enhanced UV-B radiation was studied on the atrazine-tolerant mutant Stallion, susceptible to photoinhibition, and the atrazine-sensitive cultivar Paroll of Brassica napus (oilseed rape). 4. 14. Natural enemies: Functional aspects of local management in agricultural landscapes

    Author : Helena Hanson; Biodiversitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Agricultural intensification; sustainable agriculture; land use; management intensity; landscape scale; ecosystem services; biological control; species trait; pesticides; predatory arthropods; parasitoids; pollen beetles;

    Abstract : Agricultural intensification has raised the global food production but also caused major concerns about environmental and health effects, including contamination by pesticides. Pesticide applications may induce toxicity not only on the target pest species but especially on non-target species. READ MORE
