16. Determination of the structures of three bacterial polysaccharides and synthesis and use of new spacers for glycoconjugate formation
Abstract : The first part of this work describes studies on the structures of three bacterial polysaccharides, i.e., the extracellular polysaccharides of Streptococcus pneumoniae type 2 and Butyrivibrio fibrisolvens strain X6C61 and the O-antigenic side-chain of the lipopolysaccharide of Escherichia coli 086. 17. Biogenesis and transport of membrane proteins in the endoplasmic reticulum
Abstract : The site of synthesis, glycosylation, processing and transport pathways for some membrane proteins in the endoplasmic reticulum from rat liver was investigated. A lipoprotein complex was isolated from the cytoplasm. READ MORE

18. Solid-phase glycoconjugate synthesis : on-resin analysis with gel-phase ¹9F NMR spectroscopy
Abstract : An efficient and versatile non-destructive method to analyze the progress of solid-phase glycoconjugate synthesis with gel-phase 19F NMR spectroscopy is described. The method relies on use of fluorinated linkers and building blocks carrying fluorinated protective groups. READ MORE

19. Synthesis of inositol phosphoglycans and analogues thereof
Abstract : This thesis describes the synthesis of inositol phosphoglycans (IPG) corresponding to glycosyl-phosphatidylinositol (GPI) anchors found on the cell surface of the parasite Leishmania. Synthesis of an IPG which is a putative second messenger for insulin, and of analogues thereof is also discussed. READ MORE

20. Structural and interaction studies of polysaccharides by NMR spectroscopy
Abstract : In this thesis, polysaccharides of different origins have been investigated by NMR spectroscopy with regard to structures and interactions. In paper I, hydrogen bonding interactions in kappa- (κ) and kappa/mu- (κ/μ) hybrid carrageenan oligosaccharides were studied by NMR spectroscopy of hydroxy protons. READ MORE
