    Abstract : This study provides a diachronic view of the interweaving of space and sexuality, their interdependency and mutually constitutive aspects, in seven South African English language novels from the early twentieth century until the first decade of the twenty-first century. A key contention is that it is precisely a co-constitutive depiction of space and sexuality that has arisen in this literature as a response to a socio-political climate which has exercised harsh regulation in these two areas. 2. 7. Feedback control of cerebellar learning

    Author : Anders Rasmussen; Associativ inlärning; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Motor learning; Rescorla-Wagner; Anticipation; In vivo Electrophysiology; Purkinje cells; Nucleo-Olivary inhibition; Inferior Olive; Classical Conditioning; Eyeblink Conditioning; Feedback;

    Abstract : The ability to anticipate future events and to modify erroneous anticipatory actions is crucial for the survival of any organism. Both theoretical and empirical lines of evidence implicate the cerebellum in this ability. It is often suggested that the cerebellum acquires “expectations” or “internal models”. READ MORE

  3. 8. Assessment of bio-based fuel ash effects on magnesia refractory materials in quicklime production kilns

    Author : Naresh Kumar Wagri; Britt M. Andersson; Markus Carlborg; Markus Broström; Matias Eriksson; Bengt-Johan Skrifvars; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Refractory corrosion; ash slag intrusion; lime kiln; MgO refractory; coal ash; olive pomace ash; biomass fuel; crushing strength; potassium K ; silicon Si .; Materials Science; materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : Limestone is calcined into quicklime in lime kilns at temperatures above 1000°C. Heat is supplied through combustion inside the kilns, which are insulated with a lining of refractory bricks to mitigate heat loss and to protect the kiln from the hot, chemically aggressive, and mechanically abrasive environment. Abstract : Biomass-fuelled proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) offer asolution for replacing fossil fuel for hydrogen production. Through using thebiomass-derived hydrogen as fuel, PEMFCs may become an efficient andsustainable energy system for small and medium-sized enterprises. READ MORE

  5. 10. Pyrolysis of biomass. Rapid pyrolysis at high temperature. Slow pyrolysis for active carbon preparation

    Author : Rolando Zanzi; KTH; []
    Keywords : rapid pyrolysis; pyrolysis; wood; agricultural residues; biomass; char; tar; gas; char reactivity; gasification; steam; active carbon;

    Abstract : Pyrolysis of biomass consists of heating solid biomass inthe absence of air to produce solid, liquid and gaseous fuels.In the first part of this thesis rapid pyrolysis of wood(birch) and some agricultural residues (olive waste, sugarcanebagasse and wheat straw in untreated and in pelletized form) athigh temperature (800ºC–1000ºC) is studied ina free fall reactor at pilot scale.
