  1. 1. Functional Dyspepsia : Symptoms and Response to Omeprazole in the Short Term

    Author : Elisabeth Bolling-Sternevald; Hans Glise; Rein Seensalu; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : Dyspepsia; drug therapy; omeprazole; gastrointestinal symptoms; peptic ulcer disease PUD ; malignancy; gastroesophageal reflux disease GERD ; dyspeptic symptoms; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Gastrointestinal symptoms have a prevalence of 20-40% in the general adult population in the Western world. These symptoms are generally considered to be poor predictors of organic findings [e.g. peptic ulcer disease (PUD) or malignancy]. READ MORE

  2. 2. Characterization of a new amino acid transport system in human epidermal Langerhans cells

    Author : Niels Bendsöe; Lund Dermatologi och venereologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; amino acid transport; energy charge; epidermis; glycolysis; lactate; Langerhans cells; L-dopa; mitochondria; omeprazole; Dermatology; venereology; Dermatologi; venereologi;

    Abstract : Based on the discovery of a new amino acid transport system in Langerhans cells (LC), various aspects concerning the L-dopa uptake mechanism into human epidermal LC and the energy metabolism of epidermis have been examined and subsequently characterised. The system lacks any characteristics of other described amino acid transport systems in other cell types. READ MORE

  3. 3. Molecular regulation of rat histidine decarboxylase

    Author : Christine Dartsch; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physiology; omeprazole; antiserum; fetal rat liver; COS-7 cells; purification; bacterial expression; protein turnover; ECL cells; gastric mucosa; gastrin; histdine decarboxylase; histamine; Fysiologi; Proteins; enzymology; Proteiner; enzymologi;

    Abstract : Histamine is involved in a variety of physiological processes like gastric acid secretion, inflammation and neurotransmission. The production of histamine is catalysed by the enzyme histidine decarboxylase (HDC), which is a strongly regulated enzyme. READ MORE

  4. 4. The importance of the CYP2C19 polymorphism for disposition and effects of omeprazole treatment

    Author : Mohamed Sagar; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Omeprazole; CYP2C19; H. pylori; gastrin; intragastric pH; vitamin B12;

    Abstract : CYP2C19, catalyzes the metabolism of omeprazole and several other drugs. About 3% of Caucasians are poor metabolizers (PM) of these drugs. The goal of this thesis was to evaluate the importance of CYP2C19 polymorphism for disposition and clinical effects of omeprazole treatment in healthy subjects and in patients with acid related disorders. 5. 5. Enantioselective drug metabolism catalysed by the polymorphic CYP2D6 and CYP2C19 : a methodological investigation focused on mianserin, mephenytoin and omeprazole

    Author : Gunnel Tybring; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Drug metabolism; CYP2D6; CYP2CI9; mianserin; mephenytoin; omeprazole; enantiomers; chiral analysis;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to develop enantioselective analytical methods and apply them to studies of oxidative metabolism of chiral drugs catalysed by the polymorphic cytochrome P450 CYP2D6 and CYP2C 19 enzymes. The work has been focused on mianserin, mephenytoin and omeprazole. READ MORE
