16. Adding Utility to Carbon Materials: Introducing Dopants Using Highly Soluble Metal Salts and Functionalizing Surfaces via Bromomethylation
Abstract : Carbon-based materials have received intense research interest over the past few decades due to their unique combination of properties including porosity, non-toxicity, chemical inertness, low density, and electrical conductivity, which has allowed them to find a wide array of applications including supercapacitors, batteries, CO2 capture, fuel cells, and catalysis. To expand their utility, a variety of techniques have been developed to enhance their reactivity and functionality. READ MORE

17. Theoretical and Experimental Studies of Electrode and Electrolyte Processes in Industrial Electrosynthesis
Abstract : Heterogeneous electrocatalysis is the usage of solid materials to decrease the amount of energy needed to produce chemicals using electricity. It is of core importance for modern life, as it enables production of chemicals, such as chlorine gas and sodium chlorate, needed for e.g. materials and pharmaceuticals production. READ MORE

18. Hydration of oxo anions : a combined computational and experimental structure and dynamics study in aqueous solutions
Abstract : The structure and dynamics of several hydrated oxo anions were studied using multiple methodologies. Aqueous solutions of sulfate, sulfite, thiosulfate, peroxysulfate, selenite, selenate, hypochlorite, chlorite, chlorate, perchlorate, bromate, iodate and periodate salts were studied using large angle X-ray scattering (LAXS) and extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) spectroscopy. 19. Water film-mediated mineralogical transformations and photocatalytic reactions
Abstract : Mineral particles capture water vapor in the atmosphere in the form of water films that are only few monolayers thick. Water films form nanoscale hydration environments that mediate a wide range of important reactions in nature and technology. READ MORE

20. Low temperature CO oxidation over Pt/CeO2
Abstract : The oxidation of CO to CO2 is a widely studied reaction not only for its practical applications but also for its apparent simplicity. CO oxidation is, in fact, often used as a model reaction for other oxidation reactions. READ MORE
