21. Electrochemical characterisations of TiO2 nanotube and lithium-metal electrodes for lithium-based batteries
Abstract : Lithium-ion batteries have since their introduction on the commercial market in the early 1990s played an important role within the field of energy storage. In this thesis both titanium dioxide, TiO2, and lithium metal are investigated based on their properties as anodes for lithium-based battery technologies. TiO2 nanotubes with lengths between 4. 22. ZnO Quantum Dots : Size Dependent Optical, Vibrational and Photoelectrochemical Properties
Abstract : This thesis is devoted to quantum dots of ZnO in the size regime 2.5-10 nm.The focus is directed towards their size dependent properties with specialemphasis on the optical, vibrational and photocatalytic properties. The particleswere synthesized by hydrolysis in alkaline zinc acetate solution. READ MORE

23. Highly Efficient CIGS Based Devices for Solar Hydrogen Production and Size Dependent Properties of ZnO Quantum Dots
Abstract : Materials and device concepts for renewable solar hydrogen production, and size dependent properties of ZnO quantum dots are the two main themes of this thesis.ZnO particles with diameters less than 10 nm, which are small enough for electronic quantum confinement, were synthesized by hydrolysis in alkaline zinc acetate solutions. 24. Theoretical Routes for c-BN Thin Film Growth
Abstract : Cubic boron nitride (c-BN) has been in focus for several years due to its interesting properties. The possibility for large area chemical vapor deposition (CVD) is a requirement for the realization of these different properties in various applications. Unfortunately, there are at present severe problems in the CVD growth of c-BN. READ MORE

25. Carbothermal synthesis of nano-structured metal, carbides and nitrides, using solution processed precursors; from precursor to product
Abstract : This thesis describes how solution chemical based carbothermal syntheses can be used for the synthesis of nanostructured zirconium carbide and nitride nanophase powders as well as a nickel-metal coating on NbC for use as a sintering agent. The focus is on the development of novel synthesis routes using atomic or small nanoscale level mixing of the metal oxide and carbon source in the starting precursors, enabling the use of lower synthesis temperatures and non-agglomerated nanosized powders.
