  1. 16. Radio Studies of Circumnuclear Gas in Active Galaxies

    Author : Ylva Pihlström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; techniques: interferometry; galaxies: starbust; galaxies: active; galaxies: nuclei; radio lines: galaxies; techniques: high angular resolution;

    Abstract : In this thesis we have used radio interferometry in order to perform high resolution spectral line studies of circumnuclear gas in AGN and starburst galaxies. Amongst the studied objects is the Seyfert 2 NGC5793, for which we find the high opacity HI absorption to be consistent with a 50-100 pc radius atomic disk aligned with the host galaxy disk. 2. 17. Efficient rendering of semi-transparent geometry in real-time

    Author : Erik Sintorn; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Rendering images of semi-transparent geometry representing e.g. READ MORE

  3. 18. Applications of pulsed lasers for phase transformation and welding

    Author : Istvan Sarady; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Manufacturing Systems Engineering; Produktionsutveckling;

    Abstract : This work deals with the interaction of pulsed laser radiation with solid, metallic materials at moderate and very high power densities. The interaction mechanism depends upon the properties of both the laser and the target material. READ MORE

  4. 19. Sources of Dust Extinction in Type Ia Supernovae : Measurements and constraints from X-rays to the Infrared

    Author : Joel Johansson; Edvard Mörtsell; Ariel Goobar; Rahman Amanullah; Bruno Leibundgut; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; supernovae; interstellar dust; circumstellar dust; cosmology; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : The use of Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) as distance indicators is essential for studying the expansion history of the Universe and for exploring the nature of dark energy. However, a lack of understanding of the progenitor systems and the empirically derived colour-brightness corrections represent severe limitations for SNe Ia as cosmological probes. READ MORE

  5. 20. Enamel hypomineralization in permanent first molars. A clinical, histo-morphological and biochemical study

    Author : Birgitta Jälevik; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Adolescent; Calcium Metabolism Disorders; complications; Child; Child; Preschool; Dental Enamel; chemistry; Dental Enamel Hypoplasia; epidemiology; etiology; metabolism; pathology; Female; Humans; Male; Molar; pathology; Prevalence; Respiratory Insufficiency; complications; Spectrometry; Mass; Secondary Ion; Sweden; epidemiology;

    Abstract : Hypomineralization in the permanent first molars was common in a group of 516 Swedish 8-year-old children. Ninety-five children (18.4%) had at least one molar with demarcated opacity. The incisors frequently displayed opacities concomitantly. READ MORE
