  1. 1. Low Phase Noise GaN HEMT Oscillator Design based on High-Q resonators

    Author : Mikael Hörberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; resonator coupling; reflection oscillator; MMIC; phase noise; cavity resonator; low-frequency noise; GaN HEMT; MEMS;

    Abstract : The thesis considers the design and optimization of oscillators targeting low phase noise, given boundary conditions from the technology. Crucial technology figures are power capability, RF noise figure, low-frequency noise and the quality factor (Q-factor) of the resonator. READ MORE

  2. 2. Optimum GaN HEMT Oscillator Design Targeting Low Phase Noise

    Author : Mikael Hörberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; low frequency noise; resonator coupling; cavity resonator; GaN HEMT; MMIC; reflection oscillator; phase noise;

    Abstract : The thesis considers design of low phase noise oscillators, given the boundary condition of the used technology. Important conditions are the power handling of the active device, device noise floor, the quality factor of the resonator, bias settings, and low frequency noise. READ MORE

  3. 3. Acoustical Measurements of Material Nonlinearity and Nonequilibrium Recovery

    Author : Kristian Haller; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; nonlinear acoustics; nondestructive testing; activation density; slow dynamics; nonequilibrium recovery; resonance frequency; nonlinear wave modulation spectroscopy; harmonic generation; trapped modes; open resonator; sweep rate; constant strain sweep;

    Abstract : A damaged material or a material with non perfect atomic geometry, dislocations or cracks, exhibits two types of characteristic responses to acoustic excitations. First is the fast nonlinear dynamics response that is present as long as the material is excited. As soon as the excitation stops the response disappear. READ MORE

  4. 4. Integration of Surface Acoustic Wave and Microfluidic Technologies for Liquid-Phase Sensing Applications

    Author : Kiryl Kustanovich; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; IDE; Resonator; SH-SAW; Impedance Spectroscopy; Surface Acoustic Wave; PDMS; LiNbO3; Microfluidics; Sensor;

    Abstract : This thesis discusses a new concept for construction of a novel SAW in-liquid sensor employing surface acoustic wave resonance (SAR) in a one-port configuration. In this concept, the reflective gratings of a one-port SAW resonator are employed as mass loading-sensing elements, while the SAW transducer is protected from the measurement environment, reducing power losses significantly.
