  1. 6. Magnetic Properties of Epitaxial Metal/Oxide Heterostructures

    Author : Tobias Warnatz; Björgvin Hjörvarsson; Fridrik Magnus; Vassilios Kapaklis; Stuart S.P. Parkin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fe MgO; interlayer exchange coupling; anisotropy; IEC; superlattice; multilayer; polarized neutron reflectometry; PNR; Physics with spec. in Atomic; Molecular and Condensed Matter Physics; Fysik med inriktning mot atom- molekyl- och kondenserande materiens fysik;

    Abstract : The work in this dissertation is devoted to tailoring and studying magnetic properties of epitaxial metal/oxide heterostructures. The aim is to understand the fundamental principles governing these properties and how they affect each other. The acquired knowledge can prove useful for the development of future spintronic devices. READ MORE

  2. 7. The effect of nano-confinement on hydrogen uptake in metallic superlattices

    Author : Sotirios A. Droulias; Max Wolff; Gunnar K. Pálsson; Björgvin Hjörvarsson; Daniel Azofeifa; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The absorption of hydrogen is exothermic in vanadium whereas it is endothermic in iron and chromium. Investigations of the hydrogen uptake within Fe/V(001) and Cr/V(001) superlattices allow therefore a detailed exploration of finite size effects and the influence of boundaries on hydrogen absorption. 3. 8. Theory and Applications of Coupling Based Intensity Modulated Fibre-Optic Sensors

    Author : Johan Jason; Hans-Erik Nilsson; Bertil Arvidsson; Bernt Sundström; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; fibre-optics; sensor; intensity modulation; coupling; Electrical engineering; electronics and photonics; Elektroteknik; elektronik och fotonik;

    Abstract : Optical fibre sensors can be used to measure a wide variety of properties. In some cases they have replaced conventional electronic sensors due to their possibility of performing measurements in environments suffering from electromagnetic disturbance, or in harsh environments where electronics cannot survive. 4. 9. Multilayer neutron optics based on isotope-enriched 11B4C

    Author : Sjoerd Stendahl; Jens Birch; Fredrik Eriksson; Artur Gregor Glavic; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The work in this thesis covers the design, growth and characterisation of neutron multilayers. The achieved reflectivity performance of a neutron multilayer depends on the achieved optical contrast between the layers as well as the achieved interface width between the layers. READ MORE

  5. 10. 11B4C containing Ni/Ti neutron multilayer mirrors

    Author : Sjoerd Broekhuijsen; Fredrik Eriksson; Jens Birch; Thierry Bigault; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The work in this thesis covers the design, growth and characterisation of neutron multilayers. The performance of these multilayers is highly dependent on the obtained interface width between the layers, even a modest improvement can offer a substantial increase in reflectivity performance.
