  1. 11. Kinetic Measurements Using Nanoplasmonic Sensing

    Author : Markus Schwind; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sn Nanoparticles; Sensing; Localized Surface Plasmon Resonances; Particle Plasmon; Metal Oxidation; Metal Corrosion; Solid-Liquid Phase Transition; Kinetics; Al Nanoparticles;

    Abstract : In this thesis the nanoplasmonic sensing technique was used to study kinetics of (i) the oxidation of Al nanoparticles in air and water and (ii) the solid-liquid phase transition in Sn nanoparticles. The nanoplasmonic sensing technique detects changes of the localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) in metal nanoparticles. READ MORE

  2. 12. Development and Use of Optical Sensors in Modern Analytical Chemistry

    Author : Aron Hakonen; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Optical sensors; Optodes; Imaging sensors; Fluorescence; pH; Ammonium; Sensing; Nanoparticle enhancement; Plasmonics;

    Abstract : A successful long-term high resolution imaging experiment in marine sediments was performed (17 days within the sample; Paper I). The time correlated calibration procedure was evolved to include parametric sigmoidal and logarithmic functions to provide three of the best performing (optical) pH sensors available up to date (Papers II, III and IV), precision of these sensors were in the 0. 3. 13. Optical remote sensing of industrial gas emission fluxes

    Author : John Johansson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; DOAS; formaldehyde; optical remote sensing; gas emission; absorption spectroscopy; solar occultation; VOC; flux measurement; FTIR;

    Abstract : Mobile optical remote sensing techniques offer promising possibilities to quantify and geographically attribute local industrial gaseous emissions to the atmosphere. Studies have shown that such emissions are often poorly understood, underestimated, and thereby not properly accounted for in emission inventories and regional atmospheric chemistry models, especially for emissions of VOCs. 4. 14. Multispectral Remote Sensing and Deep Learning for Wildfire Detection

    Author : Xikun Hu; Yifang Ban; Ioannis Gitas; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; active fire detection; biome; multi-criteria; Sentinel-2; Landsat-8; burned area mapping; deep learning; semantic segmentation; machine learning.; aktiv branddetektering; biom; multikriterietillvägagångssätt; Sentinel-2; Landsat-8; kartläggning av bränt område; djupinlärning; semantisk segmentering; maskininlärningsmetoderna; Geoinformatik; Geoinformatics;

    Abstract : Remote sensing data has great potential for wildfire detection and monitoring with enhanced spatial resolution and temporal coverage. Earth Observation satellites have been employed to systematically monitor fire activity over large regions in two ways: (i) to detect the location of actively burning spots (during the fire event), and (ii) to map the spatial extent of the burned scars (during or after the event). 5. 15. Aspects of Optical Broad Band Spectroscopy and Information Extraction - Applications in Medicine and Ecology

    Author : Mikkel Brydegaard; Atomfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fluorescence Spectroscopy; Optical diagnostics; Electro-optics; Applied spectroscopy; Multispectral imaging; Optical spectroscopy; LIDAR; Remote sensing; Environmental monitoring; Chemometrics; Fysicumarkivet A:2012:Brydegaard Sörensen;

    Abstract : The present thesis describes a number of aspects of modern electro-optical measurement technology also known as bio-photonics; this includes instrumentation, applications, sample interaction and data interpretation. The methods employed operate over several domains, and light measurements are discretized both in intensity, space, angle, time, polarization and energy. READ MORE
