21. Localised Radial Basis Function Methods for Partial Differential Equations
Abstract : Radial basis function methods exhibit several very attractive properties such as a high order convergence of the approximated solution and flexibility to the domain geometry. However the method in its classical formulation becomes impractical for problems with relatively large numbers of degrees of freedom due to the ill-conditioning and dense structure of coefficient matrix. 22. Some Applications of Variational Inequalities in Mathematical Finance and Numerics
Abstract : This thesis contains two parts. The first part deals with a stochastic impulse control problem, subject to the restriction of a minimum time lapse in between interventions made by the controller. We prove existence of an optimal control and show that the value function of the control problem satisfies a system of quasi-variational inequalities. READ MORE

23. Financial Volatility and Time-Varying Risk Premia
Abstract : This thesis consists of four empirical essays, all dealing with return volatility of financial assets and/or time-varying risk premia. In the first essay, Changing Risk Premia: Evidence from a Small Open Economy, the relation between risk and return is investigated for Swedish stocks. READ MORE

24. Asset Pricing Models with Stochastic Volatility
Abstract : Asset pricing modeling is a wide range area of research in Financial Engineering. In this thesis, which consists of an introduction, three papers and appendices; we deal with asset pricing models with stochastic volatility. Here stochastic volatility modeling includes diffusion models and regime-switching models. READ MORE

25. Numerical analysis for random processes and fields and related design problems
Abstract : In this thesis, we study numerical analysis for random processes and fields. We investigate the behavior of the approximation accuracy for specific linear methods based on a finite number of observations. Furthermore, we propose techniques for optimizing performance of the methods for particular classes of random functions. READ MORE
