  1. 1. Climate influenced deposition on a low latitude Sheinwoodian carbonate ramp, Gotland, Sweden

    Author : Mikael Jacobsson; Berggrundsgeologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Gotland; tempestites; cyclicity; orbital forcing; Sheinwoodian; Silurian; Wenlockian; Sedimentology; Sedimentologi;

    Abstract : The Sheinwoodian succession of Gotland comprises the Högklint, Tofta and Hangvar Formations and most of the Slite Group. The succession consists of hierarchically ordered shallow marine depositional cycles, produced by orbitally forced climate changes. READ MORE

  2. 2. Late Miocene to Pliocene orbital and climatic forcing on marine productivity

    Author : Boris-Theofanis Karatsolis; Jorijntje Henderiks; Thomas Stevens; David De Vleeschouwer; Clara T. Bolton; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The late Miocene to Pliocene was a geological time interval of global cooling, albeit in a warmer-than-present world, which is commonly used as a past analogue for future anthropogenic climate change. The investigation of marine sediments recovered by the International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP) sheds light on different paleoclimatic, paleoceanographic and paleobiological characteristics of this period. 3. 3. Understanding West African Monsoon Variability : Insights from Paleoclimate Modelling of Past Warm Climates

    Author : Ellen Berntell; Qiong Zhang; Alessandra Giannini; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; West African Monsoon; Monsoon Variability; Paleoclimate; Climate modelling; naturgeografi; Physical Geography;

    Abstract : The Sahel, a water-vulnerable region in West Africa, relies heavily on rainfed agriculture. The region experienced pronounced droughts during the 20th Century, emphasising the socio-economic importance of understanding the drivers of the rainfall variability. READ MORE

  4. 4. Studies of the Arctic Ocean sea ice cover and hydrothermal heat fluxes

    Author : Christian Stranne; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Oceanography; Arctic climate sensisitvity;

    Abstract : Since reliable ice extent estimates from satellite data became available in 1979 the Arctic sea ice cover has followed a declining long term trend. Over the last decade the decline has accelerated with record low sea ice extents recorded in 2002, 2005, 2007 and 2012. READ MORE

  5. 5. On the Late Saalian glaciation : A climate modeling study

    Author : Florence Colleoni; Martin Jakobsson; Johan Nilsson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Climate modeling; Eurasian ice sheet; Quaternary; Saalian; surface mass balance; SST; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap; Marine Geoscience; marin geovetenskap;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on the glaciation of the Late Saalian period (160 -140 ka) over Eurasia. The Quaternary Environment of the Eurasian North (QUEEN) project determined that during this period, the Eurasian ice sheet was substantially larger than during the entire Weichselian cycle and especially that of the Last Glacial Maximum (21 ka, LGM).
