  1. 1. The Tjårrojåkka apatite-iron and Cu (-Au) deposits, northern Sweden : products of one ore forming event

    Author : Åsa Edfelt; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Malmgeologi; Ore Geology;

    Abstract : The Tjårrojåkka area is located about 50 km WSW of Kiruna, northern Sweden, and hosts one of the best examples of spatially related apatite-iron (Kiruna type) and Cu (-Au) deposits in Sweden. The results from this project show that the two deposits are genetically related and indicate the presence of a younger, previously unknown, 1780 Ma generation of apatite- iron ores in northern Sweden. 2. 2. Paleoproterozoic deformation in the Kiruna‑Gällivare area in northern Norrbotten, Sweden : Setting, character, age, and control of iron oxide-apatite deposits

    Author : Joel Andersson; Tobias Bauer; Olof Martinsson; Nicholas Oliver; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Kiruna; Gällivare; structural geology; Paleoproterozoic; deformation; Malmgeologi; Ore Geology;

    Abstract : This thesis covers the structural evolution of the Kiruna‑Gällivare area in the northern Norrbotten ore province, Sweden. The study area hosts several economically significant iron oxide-apatite (IOA) deposits and includes the type locality for this ore type. READ MORE

  3. 3. Improving trace metal characterisation of ore deposits – a crucial step towards sustainable mining

    Author : Mathis Warlo; Christina Wanhainen; Glenn Bark; Alan Butcher; Thomas Riegler; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ore Geology; Malmgeologi;

    Abstract : Sustainable mining, including the utilisation of an ore body to its full potential, is becoming increasingly important for human society as the demand for metals increases. In order to maximise the recovery of useful metals, detailed characterisation of the ore prior to processing is vital. READ MORE

  4. 4. Mobility of gold and other metals during alteration of the oceanic crust : Implications for the formation of VMS deposits

    Author : Clifford G. C. Patten; Iain K. Pitcairn; Damon A. H. Teagle; Mark Hannington; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Geology; geologi;

    Abstract : Tremendous physical and chemical exchanges occur along oceanic ridges between the lithosphere, the hydrosphere and the biosphere. During these exchanges important mobilisation of metals by hydrothermal fluid circulation takes place within the oceanic crust. READ MORE

  5. 5. The crustal architecture of the central Skellefte district, Sweden : Structural analysis, setting of VMS deposits and 3D-modelling

    Author : Tobias E. Bauer; Allan Gibbs; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Malmgeologi; Ore Geology;

    Abstract : The Skellefte district in northern Sweden is a Palaeoproterozoic volcanic arc hosting abundant volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) deposits. The dominating rocks in the district are submarine volcanic and volcaniclastic rocks of the Skellefte Group deposited in an extensional regime at 1.89–1.88 Ga. READ MORE
