  1. 21. Synthesis and biological evaluation of Bicyclic β-Lactams and 2-Pyridinones : Pilicides Targeting Pilus Biogenesis in Pathogenic Bacteria

    Author : Hans Emtenäs; Ulf Nilsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Organic chemistry; β-lactam; 2-pyridinone; 2-pyridone; Meldrum’s acid; Δ2-thiazoline; solid-phase synthesis; microwave assisted synthesis; antibacterial; pili; pilicide; Organisk kemi; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : New methods have been developed for the synthesis of bicyclic β-lactams and 2-pyridinones by combining acyl Meldrum’s acids and Δ2-thiazolines. The 2-pyridinones were synthesised both in solution using conventional heating or microwave assisted heating as well as by solid supported chemistry. READ MORE

  2. 22. Palladium-Catalysed Couplings in Organic Synthesis : Exploring Catalyst-Presenting Strategies and Medicinal Chemistry Applications

    Author : Alejandro Trejos; Mats Larhed; Jianliang Xiao; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mizoroki-Heck arylation; Suzuki coupling; domino reaction; stereoselective; palladium; chelation control; vinyl ether; HIV-protease inhibitors; HIV-integrase inhibitors; Kemi med inriktning mot organisk kemi; Chemistry with specialization in Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : Palladium-catalysed coupling reactions have been embraced by synthetic chemists as one of the preferred means for smooth formation of new carbon-carbon bonds: a truly ubiquitous methodology of synthesizing complex molecules.This thesis describes the study of a series of palladium(0)-catalysed C2-arylations of a 1-cyclopentenyl ether, equipped with a chiral (S)-N-methyl-pyrrolidine auxiliary. 3. 23. Development of New Synthetic Routes to Organoboronates by Catalytic Allylic Substitution and C-H bond Functionalization

    Author : Vilhelm Olsson; Kálmán Szabó; Gary A. Molander; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Palladium; Iridium; Boron; Catalysis; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : This thesis describes the development of new catalytic methods for the synthesis and application of organometallic reagents, mainly focusing on allylboronic acid derivatives. Thus, palladium pincer-complex catalysis has been applied for extending the scope of palladiumcatalyzed borylation reactions in the synthesis of regio- and stereodefined functionalized allylboronic acid derivatives. 4. 24. Asymmetric transfer hydrogenation of ketones : Catalyst development and mechanistic investigation

    Author : Katrin Ahlford; Hans Adolfsson; Martin Wills; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Asymmetric catalysis; reduction; amino acid; rhodium; mechanistic investigation; kinetic study; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : The development of ligands derived from natural amino acids for asymmetric transfer hydrogenation (ATH) of prochiral ketones is described herein. In the first part, reductions performed in alcoholic media are examined, where it is found that amino acid-derived hydroxamic acids and thioamides, respectively, are simple and versatile ligands that in combination with [RhCp*Cl2]2 efficiently catalyze this particular transformation. 5. 25. Iridium Catalyzed Carbon- Heteroatom Bond Forming Reactions via Hydrogen Transfer : Method Development and Mechanistic Elucidations

    Author : Aitor Bermejo López; Belén Martín‐Matute; Eduardo Peris; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Catalysis; N-Heterocyclic carbene; N-Alkylation; Hydrogen transfer; Amino acids; Carbohydrates; Amines; Organic Chemistry; organisk kemi;

    Abstract : The present thesis describes the applicability of two different iridium(III) complexes for C-O and C-N bond forming reactions. The different projects described in this work are united by the use of an iridium catalyst bearing a functionalized N-heterocyclic carbene ligand. READ MORE
