6. Non Natural Aromatic Amino Acids Applications in cage-construction, metal ion coordination and asymmetric catalysis
Abstract : Aromatic non-natural amino acids, the outstanding feature of which was the presence of several arms, were synthesised and their properties investigated. The amino acids were synthesised following a standard procedure starting with a Horner-Wadsworth-Emmons or a Heck reaction, which provided didehydroamino acids. READ MORE

7. Development of organocatalytic asymmetric transformations
Abstract : The ability of amino acids and amino acid derivatives to mediate various organocatalytic asymmetric transformations has been investigated and applied in the development of various reactions. This work describes the development of a direct catalytic asymmetric α-aminomethylation of ketones and aldehydes, a catalytic asymmetric aziridination, hydrophosphination and amination of α,β-unsaturated aldehydes. 8. Bispidine Derivatives : Synthesis and Interactions with Lewis Acids
Abstract : In this thesis, the improved synthesis and investigations into the properties of some 3,7-diazabicyclo[3.3.1]nonane (bispidine) derivatives are described. READ MORE

9. [11C]Carbon Monoxide in Palladium- / Selenium-Promoted Carbonylation Reactions : Synthesis of 11C-Imides, Hydrazides, Amides, Carboxylic Acids, Carboxylic Esters, Carbothioates, Ketones and Carbamoyl Compounds
Abstract : [11C]Carbon monoxide in low concentrations has been used in palladium- or seleniummediated carbonylation reactions such as the synthesis of 11C-imides, hydrazides, amides, carboxylic acids, esters, carbothioates, ketones and carbamoyl compounds. In these reactions aryl iodides have been used in most cases. 10. Synthesis of Non-Natural Aromatic Amino Acids Derivatives Solvent-free reactions-Versatile building blocks-Galectin inhibitors
Abstract : This thesis deals with three topics concerning the synthesis of non-natural also known as unnatural amino acid derivatives. In the first, solvent-free reaction conditions for the Heck reaction were developed that were superior to previous conditions because the reaction time could be reduced and the work-up procedure simplified.
