  1. 16. New Reactivity in Diaryliodonium Salt Chemistry

    Author : Erika Linde; Berit Olofsson; Thomas Wirth; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Organic Chemistry; organisk kemi;

    Abstract : Diaryliodonium salts (Ar2IX) have emerged as versatile multi-purpose reagents with desirable properties such as easy accessibility, low toxicity and applicability under mild and metal-free reaction conditions. Despite displaying broad utility in arylations of both carbon and heteroatom nucleophiles, the overall sustainability of these protocols is compromised by featuring poor atom economy due to the formation of stochiometric iodoarene byproducts. 2. 17. N-Heterocyclic Carbene Catalysis in Organic Synthesis - A Green Chemistry Approach

    Author : Linda Ta; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; aerobic oxidation; ionic liquid; sustainability; NHC catalysis; oxidative NHC catalysis; green chemistry; OTHO; Organocatalysis;

    Abstract : The twelve principles of green chemistry were created as a response to the multiple environmental issues caused by the release of waste from the chemical industry. The principles acts as a guide in the development of sustainable chemical processes for the syntheses of important molecules needed to sustain our living standards. READ MORE

  3. 18. Dioxin emissions from small-scale combustion of bio-fuel and household waste

    Author : Björn Hedman; Stellan Marklund; Calle Nilsson; Brian Gullett; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Source-sorted waste; Household waste; Textile; Biofuel; Firewood; Pellets; Combustion; Wood boiler; Pellet boiler; Backyard burning; Garden waste; PCDD F; dioxin; PCB; Emission factor; Källsorterat avfall; Hushållsavfall; Textil; Biobränsle; Ved; Pellets; Förbränning; Vedpanna; Pelletpanna; Trädgårdsavfall; PCDD F; dioxin; PCB; Emissionsfaktor; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi;

    Abstract : Denna avhandling behandlar rökgasutsläpp av persistenta organiska föroreningar, framförallt dioxiner, vid förbränning av fasta biobränslen och torrt hushållsavfall i relativt små anläggningar (5-600 kW) utan avancerad rökgasreningsteknik.Samförbränning av avfall och biobränsle i effektiva mindre biobränslepannor testades som en alternativ strategi till den vanligen förekommande storskaliga hanteringen och förbränningen fast hushållsavfall. 4. 19. Recovery of organic carbon from municipal waste streams

    Author : Isaac Owusu-Agyeman; Elzbieta Plaza; Zeynep Cetecioglu; Irini Angelidaki; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Biogas; Volatile fatty acid; Anaerobic granules; Co-digestion; Municipal waste; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : The focus of the current study was on the recovery of carbon from municipal bio-waste streams. Firstly, the relationship between methanogenic pathways and the properties of anaerobic granules was studied using two pilot-scale upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) reactors with different granule size distribution. 5. 20. Recycling of TiO2 Pigments from Waste Paint: Process Development, Surface Analysis, and Characterization

    Author : Mikael Karlsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Recycling; Recovery; Paint; Titanium dioxide; Waste.; Municipal solid waste handling; Pyrolysis; Pigment;

    Abstract : Pigments are commonly used in paint, plastic and paper products and titanium dioxide (TiO2), the most important white pigment, accounts for approximately 70 % of the total volume of all pigments used today. Minerals containing TiO2 are relatively abundant in the earth’s crust. READ MORE
