11. Quantum Chemical Studies of Enantioselective Organocatalytic Reactions
Abstract : Density Functional Theory is used in order to shed light on the reaction mechanisms and the origins of stereoselectivity in enantioselective organocatalytic reactions. The reactions investigated are the dipeptide-catalyzed aldol reaction, the cinchona thiourea-catalyzed nitroaldol reaction and the prolinol derivative-catalyzed hydrophosphination reaction. READ MORE

12. Towards Rational Design of Asymmetric Catalyst for Organometallic and Organocatalytic Reactions
Abstract : This thesis deals with synthetically modified chiral molecules and their application in asymmetric catalysis. The first part of the thesis describes the use of commercially available chiral diamine ligands in the iridium catalyzed transfer hydrogenation of aromatic ketones. READ MORE

13. Development of an Asymmetric Synthesis of Glionitrin A and B
Abstract : In this thesis, studies in the chemical synthesis of the dithiodiketopiperazine natural products (—)-glionitrin A and B are described. In Chapter 2, a synthesis of the indoline-fused 2,5-diketopiperazine core of glionitrin A and B using a C-H activation approach is described. READ MORE

14. Computational Studies and Design of Biomolecular Diels-Alder Catalysis
Abstract : The Diels-Alder reaction is one of the most powerful synthetic tools in organic chemistry, and asymmetric Diels-Alder catalysis allows for rapid construction of chiral carbon scaffolds. For this reason, considerable effort has been invested in developing efficient and stereoselective organo- and biocatalysts. READ MORE

15. Bifunctionalization of Small Organic Molecules Based on Fluorine Incorporation
Abstract : The dissertation work that is summarized in this thesis describes novel syntheses of organofluorine compounds with a broad coverage of different fluorine-containing motifs.Chapter 2.1 covers works on the exploration of new trifluoromethylthiolating reactions of diazocarbonyl compounds.
