  1. 1. Measurement and Application of Multidirectional Mobilities

    Author : Michael A. Sanderson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; source signal filtering; mass loading; rotational mobility; rotational inertia loading; multidirectional mechanical mobility; moment mobility; structural intensity; measurement techniques; vibration isolation;

    Abstract : The direct measurement of moment mobility, employing a twin exciter technique, is theoretically and experimentally examined. This is continued by a theoretical and experimental analysis of an improved technique using source signal filtering, for two degrees of freedom, for the measurement of multidirectional mobilities. 2. 2. Numerical modeling of dielectrophoresis

    Author : Yuan Lin; Gustav Amberg; Olof Runborg; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; dielectrophoresis; orientation of rotation; fluid particle dynamics; microparticle; molecular dynamics; hydrodynamics; particle-particle interaction; superimposed; mobility; Fluid mechanics; Strömningsmekanik;

    Abstract : We investigate the dielectrophoretic separation of microparticles. Two different models are formulated in two characteristic time scales. The first model mainly accounts for the orientation behavior and rotational motion of non-spheric microparticles. The concept of effective charge is suggested to calculate the finite size non-spheric particles. READ MORE

  3. 3. Desire Lines : Towards a Queer Digital Media Phenomenology

    Author : Matilda Tudor; Stina Bengtsson; Sharif Mowlabocus; Södertörns högskola; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; digital media; queer; Russia; phenomenology; space; time; mobility; visibility; embodiment; discontinuity; Hornet; Growlr; VKontakte; Mamba; digitalt mediebruk; queer; Ryssland; fenomenologi; tid och rum; mobilitet; synlighet; kroppslighet; diskontinuitet; Hornet; Growlr; Vkontakte; Mamba; Kritisk kulturteori; Critical and Cultural Theory; Östersjö- och Östeuropaforskning; Baltic and East European studies;

    Abstract : This dissertation explores ways in which “queer digital media use” co-produces senses of space, time, and queer being in contemporary Russia. Considering the particular implications of (in)visibility for queer living, and the importance of compartmentalizing conflicting spheres, the study provides a grounded account of queer life lived with and through digital media in a context currently characterized by “anti-gay” sentiments. 4. 4. Cervical influence on dizziness and orientation

    Author : Eva-Maj Malmström; Människan i rörelse: hälsa och rehabilitering; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neck pain; Muscle fatigue; Vestibular diseases; Cervical range of motion; Cervical spine; 3-D movement analysis; Dizziness; Proprioception; Primary and coupled movements; Physiotherapy;

    Abstract : The overall aim of the work was to examine the influence of cervical biomechanical conditions on movement performance, to study musculoskeletal findings accompanying possible cervicogenic dizziness and to evaluate the influence of cervical proprioception on head orientation. Two devices, measuring cervical range of motion, were compared: Myrin, an inclinometer/compass method and Zebris®, a 3-dimensional ultrasound movement analyser. READ MORE

  5. 5. Leg length discrepancy and femoral offset after total hip arthroplasty : clinical and radiological studies

    Author : Sarwar Mahmood; Arkan Sayed-Noor; Sead Crnalic; Gösta Ullmark; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Total hip arthroplasty; leg flength discrepancy; femoral offset; WOMAC; quality of life; complication; radiographic measurements; acetabular cup; inclination; anteversion; Orthopaedics; ortopedi;

    Abstract : Every year, about 1 million patients worldwide and 16000 patients in Sweden undergo total hip arthroplasty (THA). This surgical intervention is considered a successful, safe and cost-effective procedure to regain pain-free mobility and restore hip joint function in patients suffering from severe hip joint disease or trauma.
