1. Sudden Cardiac death in Swedish orienteers
Abstract : An accumulation of sudden unexpected cardiac deaths (SUCD) occurred in young Swedish orienteers, most of whom were elite athletes. From 1979 to 1992 the incidence in 18 to 34 year old male elite orienteers ranked on the national level the same year as death was calculated to 30 (per 100,000), which represents a 20 to 40 fold increase from the expected rate. 3. Cardiac morphology and dynamics in Swedish elite orienteers : Evaluation of the right and left ventricle by two-dimensional and doppler echocardiography
Abstract : Background. Between 1979 and 1992, 16 (15 males and 1 female) sudden unexpected cardiac deaths(SUCD) were reported in Swedish orienteers. 4. Elite sprinters, ice hockey players, orienteers and marathon runners : isokinetic leg muscle performance in relation to muscle structure and training
Abstract : In male athletes from different sports, isokinetic knee extensor, and in orienteers also plantar flexor peak torque (PT), contractional work (CW) and integrated surface electromyograms (iEMG) were analysed.Single contraction PT, CW and iEMG in sprinters and marathon runners were significantly correlated to the cross-sectional area (CSA) of m. 5. Metagenomic Characterization of the Gut Microbiome in Cohorts of Elderly
Abstract : Human gut microbiota plays a vital role in maintaining host health. This thesis aims to investigate the gut microbial population and function using next generation sequencing (NGS) data from faecal samples. Paper I examines the influence of sequencing depth and analysis methods in microbiota profiling using NGS whole genome sequencing (WGS) data. READ MORE
