  1. 1. Multi-functional Hyaluronan Based Biomaterials for Biomedical Applications

    Author : Xia Yang; Dmitri Ossipov; Matthias Lutolf; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; hyaluronan; biomaterials functionalizations; biomedical applications; orthogonal chemistry; drug delivery; tissue regeneration; MRI; Kemi med inriktning mot polymerkemi; Chemistry with specialization in Polymer Chemistry;

    Abstract : This thesis presents strategies for constructing multi-functional biomaterials based on hyaluronan (HA) derivatives for various biomedical applications, such as drug delivery, tissue regeneration, and imaging biomaterials. The aim of this study is to improve the functionalities of HA biomaterials as well as simplify the preparation procedures. READ MORE

  2. 2. Functional Dendritic Materials using Click Chemistry : Synthesis, Characterizations and Applications

    Author : Per Antoni; Anders Hult; Michael Malkoch; Stefan Hecht; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Dendrimer; Dendron; Dendritic; Hyperbranched; Click; Chemistry; CuAAc; One-Pot; Multi-functional; Simultaneous; Honeycomb; Isoporous; MALDI; NMR; GPC; TGA; DSC; Polymer chemistry; Polymerkemi;

    Abstract : Förfrågan efter nya och mer avancerade applikationer är en pågående process vilket leder till en konstant utveckling av nya material. För att förstå relationen mellan en applikations egenskaper och dess sammansättning krävs full förståelse och kontroll över materialets uppbyggnad. READ MORE

  3. 3. A Chemical Approach Toward the Therapeutic Optimization of Cytotoxic Bioconjugates

    Author : Rafael Hartmann; Luke R. Odell; Fredrik Lehmann; Mats Larhed; Dario Neri; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemotherapy; antibody-drug conjugates; organic synthesis; bioorganic chemistry; synthetic method development; analytical method development; Chemistry with specialization in Bioorganic Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot bioorganisk kemi; Medicinal Chemistry; Läkemedelskemi; Chemistry with specialization in Organic Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot organisk kemi;

    Abstract : The delivery of cytotoxicity to specific cells was recognized to be the key to the effective, chemical treatment of infectious and neoplastic diseases well over a century ago. In the context of oncology, the primary therapeutic challenge is the distinction between healthy and pathological cells despite their pronounced pheno- and genotypic similarity. READ MORE

  4. 4. Redefining the essential molecular aspects that drive interactions between small molecules and G-quadruplex DNA

    Author : Måns Andréasson; Erik Chorell; Anna Linusson Jonsson; Jan Kihlberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; G-Quadruplexes; DNA; Oncogenes; G4 ligands; heterocycles; macrocycles; organic synthesis; molecular interactions; rational compound design; medicinal chemistry.; medicinal chemistry; läkemedelskemi; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : G-Quadruplex (G4) structures are secondary nucleic acid structures located in guanine-rich regions of DNA and RNA sequences, involved in gene regulation and cellular maintenance. Efforts to target G4s in a therapeutic setting are scarce, mainly due to vague details about the binding interactions between the ligands and the G4 structure combined with the lack of emphasis on drug-like properties early in the ligand development process. 5. 5. Improving interpretation by orthogonal variation : Multivariate analysis of spectroscopic data

    Author : Hans Stenlund; Johan Trygg; Tom Fearn; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; OPLS; PLS; Multivariate Analysis; Orthogonal variation; Chemometrics; hyperspectral images; FTIR; NIR; spectroscopy; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Abstract : The desire to use the tools and concepts of chemometrics when studying problems in the life sciences, especially biology and medicine, has prompted chemometricians to shift their focus away from their field‘s traditional emphasis on model predictivity and towards the more contemporary objective of optimizing information exchange via model interpretation. The complex data structures that are captured by modern advanced analytical instruments open up new possibilities for extracting information from complex data sets. READ MORE
