  1. 1. Nanoscale Osseointegration Characterization of Biomaterials and their Interfaces with Electron Tomography

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Kathryn Grandfield; Håkan Engqvist; Peter Thomsen; Anders Palmquist; Alexandra Porter; [2012]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electron tomography; transmission electron microscopy; hydroxyapatite; titanium; titania; bone; implant; osseointegration; interface; mesoporous; Materialvetenskap; Materials Science;

    Abstract : Bone response is one of the key determining factors in the overall success of biomaterials intended for bone regeneration and osseointegration. Understanding the formation of bone at an implant surface may lead to the improved design of biomaterials for the future. READ MORE

    Abstract : Behandling med käkbensförankrade tandimplantat är en vanlig metod för att ersätta förlorade tänder hos helt och partiellt tandlösa patienter. Trots att implantatbehandling uppvisar en långsiktigt hög lyckande- och överlevnadsfrekvens (90–95% efter 10 år) så förekommer implantatförluster och marginal benförlust kring implantaten under det första året efter insättning och/eller belastning, vilket kan försämra det estetiska resultatet. 3. 3. Mechanisms of Osseointegration: Experimental Studies on Early Cellular and Molecular Events in vivo

    University dissertation from Göteborg : University of Gothenburg

    Author : Omar Omar; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2010]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Osseointegration; titanium; bone; gene expression; bone-implant interface; qPCR; inflammation; cytokine; chemotaxis; chemokine; integrin; bone formation; remodeling; in vivo; rat; immunohistochemistry; ultrastructure; biomechanical torque test;

    Abstract : The early cellular and molecular activities determining the early tissue response and bone formation at bone/implant interface are not fully understood. The general aim of the current thesis was to develop a model for studying the early molecular and cellular activities in different bone types, and in response to different implant surface properties. 4. 4. The synergistic role of hierarchical macro- and mesoporous implant surface and microscopic view of enhanced osseointegration

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Department of Materials and Environmental Chemistry, Stockholm University

    Author : Guang Han; Zhijian Shen; Anders Palmqvist; [2015]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Porosity; cell adhesion; cell proliferation; surface topography; implant; bone-implant interface; argon ion beam polishing; osteogenesis; osseointegration; materialkemi; Materials Chemistry;

    Abstract : The trend for designing of a titanium implant explored using different chemical compositions and crystallinity materials until people realized that the implant surface character was another important factor affecting the rate and extent of osseointegartion. Titanium received a macroporous titania surface layer by anodization, which contains open pores with average pore diameter around 5μm. READ MORE

  5. 5. On Ca²+ incorporation and nanoporosity of titanium surfaces and the effect on implant performance

    University dissertation from Malmö University, Department of Prosthetic dentistry
