  1. 1. Topics in Distributed Algorithms: On TDMA for Ad Hoc Networks and Coded Atomic Storage Algorithms

    Author : Thomas Petig; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fault-Tolerance; TDMA; Message Passing; Self-Stabilization; Distributed Algorithm; Wireless Networks; Time Division Multiple Access; Shared Memory; Privacy;

    Abstract : Distributed algorithms run on a network of nodes. The nodes are runningconcurrently and are independent from each other. Furthermore, they have their own instructions and information. In this context, the challenges are to show thatthe algorithm is correct, regardless of computational, or communication delays. READ MORE

  2. 2. Topics in Distributed Algorithms: On Wireless Networks, Distributed Storage and Streaming

    Author : Thomas Petig; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Message Passing; Wireless Networks; Time Division Multiple Access; Shared Memory; Fault-Tolerance; Streaming; NP-Hardness; Distributed Algorithm; Optimisation; TDMA;

    Abstract : Distributed algorithms are executed on a set of computational instances. Werefer to these instances as nodes. Nodes are runningconcurrently and are independent from each other. Furthermore, they have their own instructions and information. READ MORE

  3. 3. Lightweight Persistent Storage for Industrial Applications

    Author : Zeinab Bakhshi; Hans Hansson; Guillermo Rodriguez-Navas; Fredrik Asplund; Mälardalens universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Computer Science; datavetenskap;

    Abstract : Clouds are large computer centers that offer remote access to computing and storage resources, making them popular for business and web applications. They are now being considered for use in safety-critical applications such as factories, but lack sufficient time predictability, which makes it challenging to use them in these time-sensitive applications. 4. 4. Emotions in service encounters from the perspectives of employees and customers

    Author : Terje Slåtten; Bo Edvardsson; Veronica Liljander; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Emotions; service encounters; employees; customers; Business studies; Företagsekonomi; Business Administration; Företagsekonomi;

    Abstract : The overall aim of this thesis is to contribute to deepening and extending our understanding and knowledge of emotions in service encounters by studying it from the two most central human actors in service encounter: (i) the service firm’s employees and (ii) the customer of this firm. This dissertation consist of five separate papers that conceptualize and empirically investigate how different appraisals by employees and customers generate positive and negative emotions, and how types of emotions in service encounters are linked to patterns of behavioural responses. 5. 5. Art of the Possible? : Feasibility and Compliance in Ideal and Nonideal Theory

    Author : Naima Chahboun; Ludvig Beckman; Alexandra Segerberg; Eva Erman; Anca Gheaus; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Ideal theory; nonideal theory; feasibility; compliance; justice; Political Science; statsvetenskap;

    Abstract : In the past decade, the value of so-called ideal theory has become a major point of dispute among political theorists. While critics of ideal theory accuse this approach of “idle utopianism”, its advocates fault the critics for conceding to “cynical realism”.This dissertation examines two charges against ideal theory.
