  1. 1. Young stars and outflows : case studies of three different regions

    Author : Magnus Gålfalk; Göran Olofsson; Klaus Werner Hodapp; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Star formation; Young stars; Outflows; Astronomy; Astronomi; Astronomy; astronomi;

    Abstract : Mass is clearly the most important parameter of a star as it determines the phases it will go through, its physical parameters, the elements produced and its life span. Two important processes that occur simultaneously in young stars are directly related to the final mass a star ends up with; the accretion of material onto the star from a circumstellar disk and the bipolar outflow of material from the star. 2. 2. Water in molecular outflows and shocks: Studies with Odin and Herschel

    Author : Per Bjerkeli; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Herbig-Haro objects – ISM:individual objects: HH 54; outflows; VLA 1623 – ISM:jets and outflows – ISM:molecules – ISM:abundances – ISM:supernova remnants – stars:formation – stars:pre-main-sequence – stars:winds;

    Abstract : This thesis describes observations and analyses of water in molecular outflows from young stellar objects. The abundance of this molecule (with respect to molecular hy- drogen) is deduced from observations carried out with primarily the Odin and Herschel telescopes. READ MORE

  3. 3. Dynamical atmospheres and winds of M-type AGB stars

    Author : Sara Bladh; Susanne Höfner; Kjell Eriksson; Patricia Whitelock; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Late-type stars; AGB stars; stellar winds; atmospheres; mass-loss; outflows; circumstellar matter; dust; hydroynamics; radiative transfer; Astronomy with specialization in Astrophysics; Astronomi med intiktning mot astrofysik;

    Abstract : Mass loss, in the form of slow stellar winds, is a decisive factor for the evolution of cool luminous giants, eventually turning them into white dwarfs. These dense outflows are also a key factor in the enrichment of the interstellar medium with newly produced elements from the interior of these stars. READ MORE

  5. 5. H2S and dense gas in luminous infrared galaxies and their outflows

    Author : Mamiko Sato; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Keywords: Galaxies:ISM - ISM: molecules - ISM: outflows.;

    Abstract : Luminous infrared galaxies (LIRGs) are dusty galaxies that are going through an important and likely transient phase in their evolution. They experience rapid growth through bursts of star formation or an accreting supermassive black hole, an Active Galactic Nucleus (AGN). READ MORE
