1. Three Dimensional Multiphysics Modeling of Reversible Solid Oxide Electrochemical Cells for Degradation Studies
Abstract : Solid oxide electrochemical cells (SOCs) are considered a highly promising technology for providing efficient, sustainable and economic conversion between chemical energy and electrical energy. SOCs can be operated as fuel cells, where electric power is obtained from fossil or non-fossil hydrocarbon fuels depending on the origin or as electrolysis cells, whereby using electrical energy from renewable sources like wind or solar, chemical energy can be stored as fuels. 2. The chemistry of flotation activation and depression of iron-containing sulphide minerals
Abstract : Thermodynamic calculations, electrochemical techniques, flotation and adsorption tests were used to study the physico-chemical principles involved in the flotation, activation and depression of the common ironcontaining sulphide minerals. Thermodynamic calculations on iron-xanthate-sulphur-water systems indicate that insoluble ferric hydroxo- xanthates can be obtained at a very low xanthate concentration in the neutral to weakly alkaline pH range, in which no liquid dixanthogen is formed. 3. Mechanistic Insights into Transition Metal Oxide Catalyzed Water Oxidation
Abstract : A binuclear mechanism was proposed and evaluated by means of Density Functional Theory calculations. The central reaction steps were found to be the oxidation of the transition metal TM-OH moieties to TM=O and the subsequent intramolecular O-O bond formation between two TM=O groups. READ MORE

4. Ghost in the shell : Studies on subsurface oxygen in oxide-derived copper nanocube catalysts
Abstract : With the passage of time and the advancement of our industrial civilization, environmental concerns have become more and more recognized since the 1990s. Carbon dioxide reduction reactions are capable of converting carbon dioxide into valuable hydrocarbons and reducing the carbon emission from the combustion of fossil fuels. READ MORE

5. Structural and Electrochemical Relations in Electrode Materials for Rechargeable Batteries
Abstract : Rechargeable batteries have already conquered the market of portable electronics (i.e., mobile phones and laptops) and are set to further enable the large-scale deployment of electric vehicles and hybrid electric vehicles in a not too distant future. READ MORE
