  1. 1. Nanostructured Fuel Cell Catalysts

    Author : Marie Gustavsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : Nafion; thin film evaporation; model catalyst; electrocatalyst; acetic acid oxidation; oxygen reduction; colloidal lithography; PEMFC; screening; Pt; formaldehyde oxidation; methanol oxidation; nanofabrication; CO oxidation; polymer electrolyte; TiOx;

    Abstract : A long term challenge for society is to develop sustainable energy systems to reduce the dependence on fossil fuels and to decrease air pollution. This requires new alternatives regarding the supply of energy and increased efficiency of the future energy systems. Fuel cell technology is one such possible alternative. READ MORE

  2. 2. Water oxidation : From Molecular Systems to Functional Devices

    Author : Quentin Daniel; Licheng Sun; Marc Robert; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Water oxidation; Renewable energy; Electrochemistry; EPR; Devices; Molecular system; Characterization; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : The production of hydrogen gas, through the process of water splitting,is one of the most promising concepts for the production of clean andrenewable fuel.The introduction of this thesis provides a brief overview of fossil fuelsand the need for an energy transition towards clean and renewable energy. 3. 3. Catalysts for Oxygen Production and Utilization : Closing the Oxygen Cycle: From Biomimetic Oxidation to Artificial Photosynthesis

    Author : Erik Karlsson; Jan-Erling Bäckvall; Björn Åkermark; Jerker Mårtensson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; oxygen; catalytic oxidation; biomimetic oxidation; artificial photosynthesis; water oxidation; DFT calculations; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : This thesis describes the development and study of catalysts for redox reactions, which either utilize oxygen or hydrogen peroxide for the purpose of selectively oxidizing organic substrates, or produce oxygen as the necessary byproduct in the production of hydrogen by artificial photosynthesis.The first chapter gives a general introduction about the use of environmentally friendly oxidants in the field of organic synthesis, and about the field of artificial photosynthesis. 4. 4. Selective oxidation over mixed oxide catalysts

    Author : Robert Häggblad; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; propane; catalysis; Selective oxidation; transition metal oxides; vanadium; molybdenum; methanol oxidation; ammoxidation; propene; acrylonitrile; formaldehyde;

    Abstract : Since the metal oxide catalysts used in many chemical processes show very high selectivity for the products aimed at, both today and in the future, they play a key role in the environmentally and economically sustainable production of chemical intermediates. Two processes of this sort have been studied in the thesis: the ammoxidation of propane and propene over a Mo-V-Nb-Te-oxide catalyst and the selective oxidation of methanol over vanadium-based catalysts. 5. 5. Biomimetic Reactions : Water Oxidation and Aerobic Oxidation

    Author : Lien-Hoa Tran; Björn Åkermark; Nina Kann; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cobalt II salophen; oxygen-activating catalyst; hybrid; manganese complex; epoxidation; water oxidation.; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : This thesis deals mainly with two oxidation reactions: water oxidation and aerobic oxidation, both of which have been applied in a biomimetic fashion. In the former reaction molecular oxygen is generated whereas in the latter it was used as terminal oxidant in oxidation reactions. READ MORE
